What Was Shown in the Second GTA 6 Trailer — Breakdown and New Details

This is not a drill. The second trailer for GTA 6 has finally arrived. Alongside it, Rockstar Games announced the official release date and shared additional materials on their website. We’ve compiled everything into one article and dissected every detail of what was shown.

Characters

Let’s start with the basics. The second trailer revealed more details about the main characters and the NPCs they’ll interact with. First on our list is Jason Duval. He spent his childhood and youth among petty criminals, so it was only natural that he’d end up in a life of crime. However, something happened (we don’t know what yet). Perhaps he lost someone or went to prison — the latter is hinted at in a trailer scene where a prison guard asks Jason if he’s seen him there before. Whatever the case, the event forced him to rethink his approach to life and start fresh. Jason enlisted in the military, where he bulked up and honed his combat skills.

Jason and Lucia

After his service, fate led him to the Leonida Keys archipelago, where Jason settled down. The hot sun and warm ocean appealed to the weary soldier, but finding legitimate work proved impossible. Soon enough, he fell back on what he knew best — collecting debts for a local drug dealer named Brian Heder. In return, the old man let him stay rent-free. This arrangement forged an odd friendship and kept Jason out of serious trouble for a long time.

Despite his age, Brian Heder remains active, smuggling drugs through his boatyard. He started as a simple courier, so all his wealth and influence were earned—albeit not entirely honestly. He likes Jason and often cuts him slack. Brian also has a wife, Laurie, a tough woman with an assault rifle seen in a few shots. Clearly, she’s aware of her husband’s business and actively helps him.

Brian

These details suggest that GTA 6’s story begins with Jason, long before he meets the love of his life, Lucia. Brian seems like a classic tutorial employer, giving simple missions to introduce gameplay mechanics.

But the game’s main hook is its dual protagonists, so let’s move to the second one — Lucia Caminos. Her name hints at Spanish or Mexican roots. It’s revealed that she grew up in Liberty City, but her mother never achieved much, so Lucia took matters into her own hands. Thanks to her father’s training, she’s an expert in hand-to-hand combat, a skill she uses often.

The circumstances of her meeting Jason are still unknown, but it likely happens after the game’s opening. The official website states that Lucia landed in prison trying to help her family. However, we’re certain she’s committed plenty of crimes. Prison didn’t reform her, so she’s released with a grand new plan — and Jason is there waiting. We’ll likely see key moments both before and after her incarceration.

Jason is portrayed as a loyal, dependable partner, willing to do anything for those he cares about. Lucia is more complex — impulsive and driven, but her love for Jason might just be a phase. We wouldn’t be surprised if she betrays him for a big score or faces such a choice by the end.

Cal

The character list doesn’t end there. Though the trailer barely features them, the website offers more details. Cal Hampton is Jason’s friend and a stereotypical "nerd" — unkempt, homebound, and fond of drinking. Still, he’ll likely play a key role in Jason and Lucia’s plans, as one of the few trustworthy allies.

Boobie

Another new face is Boobie Ike, owner of a strip club and recording studio. For now, he seems like another mission-giver (a GTA staple), but he might have a larger role. Ike is a true gangster, unafraid to deal drugs through his club and leverage his influence for profit.

Dre'Quan

Working with Ike is Dre'Quan Priest, an aspiring music producer. While not a hardened criminal, he’s obsessed with music. He recently signed a duo — Bae-Luxe and Roxy (Real Dimez) — and will do anything to make them stars.

Raul

Standing apart is Raul Bautista, a professional bank robber. He’s confirmed to work with Lucia and Jason, possibly elevating heists to new heights (a fan-favorite feature from GTA V). Raul is adaptable and profit-driven — unlikely to be a reliable partner, but pivotal at certain points.

That wraps up the key characters. The trailer also highlights a detective who might pursue the duo, at least early on.

Finally, the trailer teased the premise: Jason and Lucia botch a job and stumble into a statewide criminal conspiracy. This sets up a fast-paced conflict from the very first hours.

Will Lucia betray Jason in the end?

Locations

Some details were shared about the locations. The Leonida Keys archipelago is a true paradise. This is likely where the story will begin, and it’s also the perfect setting to showcase the enchanting atmosphere of Vice City. The city itself, as expected, will be a quintessential 1980s throwback — but with a modern twist. Each district is unique and offers something different.

As anticipated, there’s also a vast wilderness area — Grassrivers. It’s teeming with alligators, swamps, and other strange and dangerous creatures. The perfect place to practice hunting and collect rare trophies.

Port Gellhorn is a forgotten tourist spot. As described on the website: “…a new economy has emerged here, fueled by fortified beer, painkillers, and energy drinks from the nearest gas station.” This will likely be one of the more dangerous areas, with minimal police presence and plenty of small-time criminals.

Ambrosia is a district near a sugar refinery, ruled by bikers and blue-collar workers. It’s hard to gauge its significance yet, but one thing’s clear — Ambrosia is the heart of Leonida.

Rockstar Games didn’t waste the experience they gained from Red Dead Redemption 2, so the game features another wilderness location — Mount Kalaga National Park.

Here, players can enjoy activities like fishing, mountain descents, kayaking, and more.

The Trailer

The second trailer itself provides far more information about the game than the first one. We see a scruffy-looking Jason, further hinting that the story begins with him. When Lucia is released from prison, the scale of events ramps up dramatically. There’s a shot clearly inspired by the Fast & Furious franchise — a massive safe being dragged down the road on chains, mirroring a scene from the films. Lucia is seen fighting someone in a ring (underground fights confirmed?) and later battling on a plane mid-takeoff. The trailer is packed with shootouts, chases, and heists.

An outdoor gym is shown, suggesting that physique customization — like in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas—might make a comeback. A few clips also reveal Lucia working as a garbage collector on community service shortly after her release. It’s unclear why she’d be doing this post-prison, but there might be a punishment system for failing to evade the police. On a lighter note, Jason is seen playing a PS5.

Missions where players switch between characters to complete different tasks within a single quest are almost guaranteed. This is hinted at in a shot where Jason rides a motorcycle while a plane flies overhead, clearly providing cover.

And that’s about it. The release date has finally been announced: May 26, 2026, as many predicted. All footage was captured on a standard PS5, with no Pro consoles involved.

***

The second GTA 6 trailer delivers exactly what we expected — proof that this is classic GTA through and through. The graphics are stunning, the details are abundant, the shootouts are explosive, and the story is intriguing. Some might say there’s nothing groundbreaking, but this is a series where refining the familiar is more than enough. The core formula hasn’t changed in years, and it still seems perfectly capable of entertaining. We’re definitely waiting.
