Design and Functionality

Externally, the HONOR 400 Pro embodies the spirit of a flagship while occupying the mid-price segment: clean lines, metallic accents, subtle curves on all four sides, and a restrained color palette. The smartphone is available in two colors — “Titanium Gray” and “Velvet Black.” Both options look appropriate at a business meeting as well as in the hands of a young person.

The smartphone comes in a classic package: inside the white box you’ll find the device itself, a 100W HONOR SuperCharge charger, a transparent silicone case, a SIM tray ejector, and documentation.

A 100W fast charger is a must-have for smartphones of this class. The HONOR 400 Pro charges to full in less than 42 minutes, and up to 51% in just 15 minutes. The device also supports 50W wireless charging. The 6000 mAh silicon-carbon battery lasts about one and a half to two days of regular use. The company notes that battery degradation will be gradual, and even after 4 years the device will retain more than 80% of its original capacity.

Despite the large battery, the body thickness is only 8.1 mm and the weight is 205 grams. Thanks to its smooth contours and moderate dimensions, the device feels comfortable in hand. On a table, the smartphone rests unevenly due to the slightly protruding triple camera module.

The device has received the SGS 5-star certification, confirming its resistance to damage from drops. Still, it’s best not to drop it unnecessarily: the edges of the included silicone case protrude around the cameras, but on the screen side they are almost flush with the display. A protective film comes pre-applied to the screen.

The device features a slightly curved 6.7-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2800 by 1280 pixels, a pixel density of 460 ppi, and 100% coverage of the DCI-P3 color standard. The refresh rate is 120 Hz. Thanks to this, the HONOR 400 Pro delivers a clear, vibrant, and smooth picture in both apps and games—just like top-tier devices.

Peak brightness reaches an impressive 5000 nits in HDR mode and special scenarios (for example, when watching movies certified for Amazon HDR and Netflix HDR). In practice, the display performs well even on sunny days, allowing you to comfortably take photos or browse social networks while outdoors.

Eye and user health protection hasn’t been forgotten. The HONOR Eye Comfort display offers reduced blue light, flicker-free PWM at 3840 Hz, an ultra-dark mode with brightness as low as 1.5 nits, improved visibility in sunlight, and reduced motion sickness symptoms when using the device in transport.

Apps, Performance, and Gaming

The HONOR 400 Pro uses the flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor with Adreno 750 graphics, paired with 12 GB of RAM. The smartphone runs on MagicOS 9.0 based on Android 15. The manufacturer notes that the smartphone will receive 2 major system updates up to Android 17 and 3 years of additional support packages.

The system has its own version of Dynamic Island called Magic Capsule, which offers widgets and notifications around the selfie camera cutout.

The HONOR 400 Pro is also packed with a number of AI features useful for everyday use, work, and entertainment:

  • “Circle to Search” finds information simply by circling an object on the screen;
  • Magic Portal 2.0 with AI simplifies access to necessary services. With it, you can send objects from one app to another with a single tap. The feature also contextually suggests search or other apps depending on the object selected by the user;
  • “AI Text Editor” helps create texts, rephrase, and check grammar in multiple languages;
  • AI Recorder — transcribes recordings and translates them in real time;
  • AI Call Translation — simultaneous translation of phone calls;
  • Deepfake detection with AI — this tool analyzes video calls and warns you if you’re talking to an avatar.

In games, the HONOR 400 Pro performs well. The demanding Genshin Impact runs at high settings with a steady 60 frames per second. Less intensive games like PUBG or Call of Duty show even smoother gameplay on the display, which can reach 120 FPS.

You can check the results of synthetic performance tests in the screenshots.

Camera

One of the major advantages of the HONOR 400 Pro is its powerful triple camera setup, with the main 200 MP camera featuring hybrid AI, a 1/1.4-inch sensor, and dual stabilization (OIS + EIS). It captures sharp, vibrant images with pleasing depth and color. The camera app offers good flexibility in shooting settings, allowing you to reduce AI enhancements and make photos look a bit more realistic.

The 50 MP telephoto camera with a Sony IMX856 sensor, 3x optical zoom, and OIS delivers high-quality zoomed-in photos.

Special mention should be made of the AI HONOR IMAGE ENGINE technology with its “AI Super Zoom” feature. It allows for significant zooming at 15-50x magnification. The artificial intelligence does a decent job of reconstructing details captured from a great distance. Of course, like all AI enhancers on the market, sometimes it may add unnecessary elements or miss some details (for example, this mode isn’t suitable for shooting people). But overall, it’s still impressive, as you can capture a desired object from 300 meters away.

One of the standout features of the H400 series remains portrait photography, which has retained the quality of the H200 version but improved its AI technologies. The new AI Portrait Snap function has been introduced, and close-up shots use a focal length equivalent to 135 mm—a technology implemented in HONOR smartphones for the first time. There are also 6 special templates for emulating analog Kodak and Fuji film, as well as 3 filters from the Parisian studio Harcourt, all of which can be activated in portrait mode.

The 12 MP ultra-wide camera with a 112-degree field of view is suitable for panoramic scenes. The photos are just as good as those from the main camera, with no blurring at the edges.

The 50 MP front camera with an f/2.0 aperture is complemented by a 2 MP depth sensor. It delivers sharp, highly detailed selfies. The front camera nails the focus, and the popular background blur effect is achieved using the AI Dual-lens Bokeh algorithm.

Among the useful AI photo features are various versions of AI erasers (for objects, passersby, glare, and reflections). There’s also photo expansion (to increase the edges), an upscaling function, and an eye-opening feature if you accidentally blinked in a shot.

For fun, so you don’t have to use third-party apps, there’s the “AI Photo Animation” feature. Just upload any photo with a subject and send it for processing. With this, you can animate posters, old photos, or even make landscapes move. The results are quite decent.

The smartphone shoots video just as well. Videos come out detailed and smooth, with a maximum resolution of 4K at 60 frames per second. It’s suitable for full-fledged vlogs and, of course, social media.

Conclusion and Awards

The HONOR 400 Pro is a fast and user-friendly smartphone that lets you take great photos in any scenario. It’s packed with all sorts of AI features for photography and cares about the user. And the 6000 mAh battery means you can forget about charging for the whole day.

Amazing! The HONOR 400 Pro is one of the most well-rounded smartphones we’ve tested. Any function a modern user needs, it performs excellently—whether it’s gaming, work, or photography.

Designer’s Choice. The smartphone offers a balanced approach to design. The camera module isn’t overloaded with elements, and the body itself is made from pleasant materials with rounded corners, making it comfortable to hold.
