DLC is a great way to extend your enjoyment of your favorite games and gain new experiences. We've compiled a selection of the best story-driven expansions that expand on the original games. They're definitely worth every gamer's attention.
Dishonored: The Knife of Dunwall and The Brigmore Witches
- Release year: 2013;
- Platforms: PC, PS3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One;
- Co-op: No.
These two DLCs focus on Daud, one of the key villains of the original Dishonored. He was the one who assassinated Empress Jessamine Kaldwin at the very beginning of the game. Afterward, he decided to conduct his own investigation to find the mastermind behind the assassination. The assassin visits various areas of Dunwall, including the Business District, which we haven't seen before. Playing through both DLCs allows you to see familiar events from a different perspective and piece together the full story.
L.A. Noire: DLC Bundle
- Release year: 2011;
- Platforms: PC, PlayStation 3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch;
- Co-op: no.
In some cases, DLCs expand the main story with new chapters, with their action taking place before the end of the story. For example, this is what Piranha Bytes did with the Gothic 2: Night of the Raven add-on. But in this article, we decided to add five additional cases for L.A. Noire, which were included in the DLC Bundle. They fit seamlessly into the key events of the game. We especially remember The Naked City, which is based on the 1948 film noir of the same name.
XCOM 2: War of the Chosen
- Release year: 2017;
- Platforms: PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch;
- Co-op: no.
The XCOM 2: War of the Chosen expansion is designed in the same way as the L.A. Noire DLC, which we described above. The original game's story mode has been expanded with new missions, full character development, and unique enemies. These include the Chosen, particularly powerful aliens who become more powerful as you progress and can even launch an attack on your base. As a result, the single-player campaign truly feels new.

Fallout 4: Far Harbor
- Release year: 2016;
- Platforms: PC, PS4, Xbox One;

This list could have been compiled entirely from DLCs for the Fallout series. However, the DLC for the fourth game, Far Harbor, deserves special mention. Its plot begins with an investigation into the disappearance of a fisherman's daughter. Clues lead the protagonist to an island where a struggle has erupted between locals, synths, and cultists known as the Children of Atom. You can join this conflict on the side of one of the factions or follow your own path. There are eight endings in total. In terms of quest quality and atmosphere, the expansion proved to be much better than the original Fallout 4.

It invites them to revisit the Citadel and unravel another conspiracy.
