Top Game Announcements for June 2026: State of Play, Summer Game Fest, Xbox Showcase
June is traditionally one of the most eventful months for the gaming industry: major publishers hold their own showcases, platform holders unveil exclusives, and independent studios get a chance to make a name for themselves at big events. In 2026, the season kicked off with State of Play, where Sony revealed God of War Laufey, Until Dawn 2, Marvel's Wolverine, Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, and more.
In this article, we're collecting the biggest announcements from the summer gaming showcases of 2026 — State of Play, Summer Game Fest, Xbox Showcase, PC Gaming Show, and other events. The article will be updated as new shows air: we'll add fresh trailers, release dates, platforms, and the most important details about the games presented.
What Was Shown at State of Play
The June State of Play opened the summer gaming showcase season with several loud talking points right out of the gate. Sony revealed God of War Laufey, Until Dawn 2, Marvel's Wolverine, Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, and other projects for PlayStation 5 and beyond. It was a packed presentation.
Marvel's Wolverine
The conference unsurprisingly kicked off with a presentation of Marvel's Wolverine. Insomniac Games showed a gameplay trailer featuring Wolverine in the thick of combat. In feel, it's closer not to the studio's own Marvel's Spider-Man duology, but to the 2009 game X-Men Origins: Wolverine — an excellent title based on a far less excellent film.
In the Marvel's Wolverine trailer, the main hero leaps at enemies, unleashes his adamantium claws, delivers slash wounds, and makes active use of the environment. The action is accompanied by splashes of blood, much like in the film Logan. It looks energetic and spectacular. The release is set for September 15, exclusively on PlayStation 5. If you enjoy brutal action games, check out our roundup of the most brutal and bloody games on PC and consoles.
Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls
New gameplay was shown for Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls. Visually the game resembles the Marvel vs. Capcom series and modern superhero cartoons, with a touch of anime style that gives it its own identity. Fighting game fans are eagerly anticipating it, as it's being made by the creators of the Guilty Gear series — titles that belong among the best fighting games ever made. The latest Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls trailer focuses on villains: Doctor Doom, Magneto, the Green Goblin, and Carnage. Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls releases on August 6, 2026 on PC and PlayStation 5.

Rayman Legends Retold
Rayman Legends Retold announced. Judging by the trailer, we're in for a quality modern platformer with appealing animated visuals. Rayman Legends Retold is scheduled for October 1, and pre-orders are already open.
Kemuri: Hunt the Unseen
Gameplay was shown for Kemuri: Hunt the Unseen. In this slasher we fight as yokai hunters who protect a city from evil spirits. If it reminds you of Devil May Cry, your instincts are correct — the gameplay echoes Dante's adventures, though the visuals here are far more vibrant and cartoonish. The game is being developed by well-known game designer Ikumi Nakamura. Kemuri is set to release in 2027.
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis
A gameplay trailer dropped for Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, a remake of the very first entry in the series. The game looks modern, but anyone who played the original will immediately recognize familiar locations and enemies like dinosaurs. The new Lara Croft design is inspired by Tomb Raider: Legend. Release date: February 12, 2027. If you enjoy the genre and want something to play while waiting, take a look at our roundup of the best action-adventure games on PC, PS5, Xbox, and Switch.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword
The story trailer for Onimusha: Way of the Sword showcased the game's dark atmosphere, which inevitably calls to mind Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. The combat system, however, is far more spectacular and in the vein of modern slashers. A demo is already available to download.
Bancho the Chef
A prequel to Dave the Diver has been announced. Bancho the Chef takes place 19 years before the main events and puts Bancho — a sushi master who was just learning his craft — in the spotlight. Unlike the original game, the focus here is squarely on culinary art.
Silent Hill: Townfall
A release date was announced and new gameplay was shown for Silent Hill: Townfall. Frankly, what's on screen looks like a fairly by-the-numbers horror. Going by the trailer, it lacks the uniqueness that defines the best entries in the series. The game releases on September 24, 2026. Those looking for quality horror experiences should check out our TOP-15 psychological horror games guaranteed to break your mind.
Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve
The Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve trailer showed gameplay from the arcade aerial action game and announced a release date of October 2, 2026. Games in this series have always been defined by brisk gameplay and blistering speed.
Control Resonant
The trailer for the new Control game centers on Dylan Faden, a secondary character from the original game who becomes the protagonist here. In combat he wields the shape-shifting Aberrant weapon alongside his own paranormal abilities. The surreal vistas of a distorted Manhattan create a distinctive atmosphere that sets it apart from the first game. Control Resonant releases on September 24.
ILL
The story trailer for the horror game ILL oozes the atmosphere of unsettling body horror. The monsters look terrifying, and every hit lands with a visceral display of damage. ILL is published by Mundfish, known for Atomic Heart.
Until Dawn 2
Until Dawn 2 officially announced as a PS5 exclusive. Like the original, it's an interactive drama where every character can live or die depending on your choices. Unlike the first game, however, the sequel's trailer puts horror under a blazing sun. Development has passed to Firesprite, the studio behind Horizon Call of the Mountain, replacing Supermassive Games. Releases in 2027 on PlayStation 5.
God of War Laufey
The rumors were true: closing out the event, a new game, God of War: Laufey, was announced. You play as Faye, Kratos's wife. A 20-minute gameplay trailer introduced a new combat system built around agility rather than raw strength — Faye is more than capable of dealing with anyone who crosses her path. The role of the main heroine is played by Deborah Ann Woll, best known as Karen Page in the Daredevil: Born Again series.
God of War: Laufey is coming to PlayStation 5; no release date has been announced yet. The events unfold in the realm of the dead across various mythologies, so expect characters from all kinds of legends. We also have several thematic articles on the site: best games about ancient Greece, best games about slavic mythology, best games about vikings and norse mythology.
The main announcement for the June 2026 State of Play
Summer Game Fest 2026 — Major Announcements
Summer Game Fest is one of the biggest conferences of the year. It was organized by journalist Geoff Keighley as a replacement for E3 when it was cancelled in 2020 due to the pandemic. Since then it has been held every year. Many future hits are announced at this event.
Resident Evil Veronica
The presentation kicked off with the announcement of the Resident Evil Code: Veronica remake. We were shown first-person gameplay as Claire Redfield and the setup of the story. Many fans consider this game underrated — Resident Evil Code: Veronica was originally developed as a full-fledged third entry in the series, but later received spin-off status. The remake will let a new generation experience the events in Paris and on Rockfort Island. The release date is set for 2027.
Mighty Cuphead Adventure
This is not a full-blown sequel but a spin-off that falls squarely into the classic platformer genre. Its visuals are styled after 8-bit games of the NES era, while the visual identity of the original Cuphead is immediately recognizable.
Alien: Isolation 2
The first trailer for Alien: Isolation 2 was shown. Like the 2014 original, the project evokes Ridley Scott's 1979 film Alien. The signature retro-futuristic style is intact, though this time the action unfolds on a planet's surface. In our article on the first Alien: Isolation we outlined the main reasons why it became one of the best xenomorph horror games. Also check out our roundup of the best space games on PC: RPGs, horror, puzzles, and strategy.
gen ATLAS
The new project from Fumito Ueda — the creator of Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, and The Last Guardian — has been named gen ATLAS. The first trailer was shown at Summer Game Fest. In our article on this talented developer, we discussed his dense atmosphere, an unconventional style reminiscent of Nicholas Roerich's paintings, and his unorthodox gameplay. Despite a futuristic setting complete with robots and rocket launches, Ueda's signature touch is immediately recognizable. And eagle-eyed players will likely spot an easter egg in the trailer connected to one of the colossi.
Blood Message
An action game set in medieval China — a genre that has seen quite a few entries lately. Blood Message takes place in the 9th century during the uprising in the Dunhuang province. You'll embark on an epic journey through deserts, forests, fields, and cities, featuring intense battles, stealth sequences, and survival under harsh conditions. Castle sieges are also part of the package. The game promises a particular emphasis on story that explores the Eastern perspective on honor and valor.
Stranger Than Heaven
A trailer for the crime action game Stranger Than Heaven was shown, from the creators of the Yakuza series. The story centers on Makoto Daito, who faced racism in the United States and fled to Japan, where he founded his own gang of the equally abandoned and desperate. That gang would eventually become the legendary Tojo Clan. Release is scheduled for January 15, 2027.
HAEX
A trailer was shown for the cooperative survival game HAEX, set in Antarctica. There you'll explore an alien anomaly. As you progress, players will gain access to some alien technology through a special cube, allowing them to fight back against the aggressive invaders and reshape the surrounding environment. On top of that, you'll need to find food and stay warm to avoid freezing to death. The game will launch in Early Access on Steam.
Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced
The remake of Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag received a new trailer. Despite the many pirate games released in recent years, this title remains one of the best in that space. As in the original, you can expect combat on land and at sea, exploration of a large open world, treasure hunting, and a refined ship upgrade system that lets you turn a modest vessel into a powerful frigate. The remake will feature not only modern visuals but also a reworked combat system, and some story segments — such as the present-day scenes — are planned to be cut. Release date: July 9. If you're into the genre, check out our roundup of best pirate and ship games on PC and consoles.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin
The Last Ronin comic is a rather grim take on the Ninja Turtles — both a reimagining and a return to roots, since the earliest graphic novels about the mutants were far more violent than anything seen in the animated series. Plans to adapt it as a film were shelved in favor of a game instead. At Summer Game Fest 2026, a teaser for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin was shown. Development is being handled by Platinum Games, the studio behind Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, NieR: Automata, and Bayonetta. They've worked on a Turtles game before, but Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan is generally considered a disappointment. Here's hoping this time around they deliver something far better.
Gundam Rogue Orbit
Gundam Rogue Orbit was announced, set in the Gundam universe. This mecha anime franchise takes a realistic approach to depicting exoskeletons and, unlike many similar properties, is aimed at a more mature audience — tackling serious themes like the brutality of war and post-traumatic stress, as well as philosophical reflections on humanity's past, present, and future. Gundam Rogue Orbit will be a spectacular action game with an emphasis on melee combat; the trailer evokes the Armored Core series. By the writers' design, the game will serve as a great entry point for newcomers while satisfying longtime fans. Release in 2027. In parallel, Netflix is producing a live-action Gundam film, with Sydney Sweeney in one of the key roles.
An Eggstremely Hard Game
Co-op fans should keep an eye on An Eggstremely Hard Game. It's a lighthearted adventure with cartoonish visuals in which two geese try to carry an egg through a gauntlet of obstacles — from deep chasms to moving mechanisms. The egg is fragile, so whatever you do, don't drop it. Releases July 24.
Crossfire
We saw a trailer for Crossfire, a story-driven game set in the universe of the well-known multiplayer shooter. The developers are That's No Moon, a studio with many alumni from Infinity Ward and Naughty Dog. Crossfire can be played solo or with a friend in co-op. On top of standard shooter mechanics, the game promises an unconventional cover system — characters adjust their posture based on terrain and enemy sightlines. Also noteworthy are futuristic technologies like a cloaking module that renders the hero invisible, as well as a range of superpowers.
Control Resonant
The Control Resonant trailer showcased a devastated New York and the terrifying surreal creatures that have taken up residence among its ruins. To fight them, players will make use of futuristic firearms and various paranormal abilities. Control Resonant releases on September 24, 2026.
Guild Wars 3
Guild Wars 3 was announced. Like the first two entries, it belongs to the MMORPG genre, which is currently going through a rough patch. If the late 2000s saw many developers trying to replicate the success of World of Warcraft, publishers today tend to bet on other directions. Story-wise, Guild Wars 3 is a prequel to the entire saga, set in the Tyrian region of Orr — a wild and untamed land. Beta testing begins in 2027 on PC and PlayStation 5.
Star Wars: Galactic Racer
The trailer for Star Wars: Galactic Racer confirms that it's a spiritual successor to Star Wars Episode 1 — Racer, widely regarded as one of the best 10 Star Wars games with cool and twisting stories ever made. The podracing sequence was one of the most memorable scenes in The Phantom Menace, and the new trailer captures that same sense of insane speed — the pod racers look unmistakably canonical. We can expect a full story mode with colorful characters and well-crafted cutscenes. Releases October 6, 2026.
Last Harbor
A survival game set during a zombie apocalypse, where your safe zone is a ship. Staying on the water isn't an option indefinitely — you'll need to venture ashore in search of supplies and resources. The local undead, sporting strange spores, draw an immediate comparison to The Last of Us.
Virtua Fighter Crossroads
Virtua Fighter is Sega's series of 3D fighting games. The first entry appeared in arcades back in 1993, with the most recent one releasing in 2006. At Summer Game Fest, Virtua Fighter Crossroads was announced. The trailer is steeped in the atmosphere of martial arts and Asian crime films from the '80s and '90s. Beyond the fights themselves, there will be sequences where you have to flee from Triad members. Releases in 2027.
Mafia: The Old Country — Man of Honor
The Man of Honor DLC was announced for Mafia: The Old Country. It adds two extra chapters to the main story, set in 1905 — that is, before the ending of the main campaign. At its center is the story of a young Ennio Salieri, the boss of Tommy Angelo from the original Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven. Salieri doesn't appear in person in The Old Country, but players can find a newspaper mentioning him in the game. The DLC releases on August 14, 2026.
1666: Amsterdam
The dark action-adventure 1666: Amsterdam follows the story of Noah Brooklyn, who leads an ordinary life by day and battles monsters by night. The concept is somewhat reminiscent of Vampyr. The game promises multiple ways to complete objectives and the freedom to devise your own tactics against the supernatural. It's being developed by Panache Digital Games, previously known for the unusual survival game Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey. The studio is still led by Patrice Desilets, a Ubisoft veteran who worked on Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time and the early Assassin's Creed titles.
SAW: Genesis
Lionsgate has been in no rush to release new Saw films — the previously announced eleventh installment was even pulled from the release calendar. So it came as a complete surprise to see the announcement of SAW: Genesis. It's an asymmetric multiplayer project in the spirit of Dead by Daylight. Early access will include a mode in which three players face off against one, who plays the role of the judge. It's worth noting that two single-player Saw games have been released previously, and neither was well-received. It's too early to pass judgment on this new title, but the trailer is atmospheric and true to the spirit of the original films.
Lords of the Fallen 2
The trailers for Lords of the Fallen 2 create a strong impression that we're in for the most epic soulslike in recent memory. They evoke classic fantasy — with majestic castles, winged women, dragons, and brave heroes in heavy armor. But the real question is the gameplay, which was the main stumbling block for the first game.
Star Wars Zero Company
Another Star Wars game, this time in the turn-based tactics genre. From the Star Wars Zero Company gameplay trailer, we can conclude that we're in for August 27, when the game goes on sale. Weapon and armor management, combat with heavy use of cover — it all brings XCOM: Enemy Unknown to mind, only in a galaxy far, far away. All the details on Star Wars Zero Company can be found in our dedicated article.
The Blood of Dawnwalker
The vampire action RPG The Blood of Dawnwalker received a new trailer, showcasing melee combat. The influence of The Witcher is immediately apparent — and unsurprising, given that the game is being developed by veterans of CD Projekt RED. Release date: September 3, 2026.
Among Us Story: On Guard
A story-driven spin-off of Among Us, in which you must conduct your own investigation to identify the impostor. The visual style of the original is preserved. A demo releases on June 15. On a related note, Paramount+ has launched an animated series based on the game.
Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance
This expansion for Monster Hunter Wilds sends players to a region of floating islands. The familiar mechanics are expanded with vertical gameplay and new tactical options — both of which will be essential for taking down the local monsters.
Attack on Titan 3
Although the Attack on Titan manga and anime have both concluded, Summer Game Fest 2026 saw the announcement of Attack on Titan 3. It's an action game that lets you participate in the key events of the saga, with a special emphasis on aerial combat and maneuvering. Release date: July 1, 2026.
Clutch
Former developers of Forza Horizon have announced a racing game called Clutch. Expect high-fidelity visuals, realistic vehicle aging, and extensive tuning options. Alongside sanctioned competitions, street racing will draw the attention of the police. The game releases in spring 2027.
The Wolf Among Us Remastered
Telltale Games showed a trailer for The Wolf Among Us 2 and, equally interesting, announced a remaster of the first game. Both titles serve as prequels to Bill Willingham's comic series Fables, which weaves together stories from old folklore with the realities of early 20th-century New York, all wrapped in a thick noir atmosphere. The original game came out in 2013, and the sequel has been in development for nine years. AdHoc Studio, known for Dispatch, assisted Telltale with the second game, though rumors suggest their work will not feature prominently in the final release. The game is expected in 2027.
Stellar Blade: Blood Rain
The Stellar Blade sequel received its first trailer along with an official subtitle: Blood Rain. You'll play as a new heroine named Ivy, who is every bit as striking as Eve. Judging by the gameplay footage, the focus will be firmly on melee combat. The first game drew many comparisons to NieR: Automata, but carved out its own success — selling over six million copies.
Final Fantasy 7 Revelation
The conference closed with the announcement of the third part of the Final Fantasy 7 remake. It has been subtitled Revelation, and its release is set for spring 2027 on all major platforms. It will bring the final chapters of the original 1997 game into the modern format. But the story doesn't end there — more games set in this universe have been promised. It feels as though Square Enix plans to devote more attention to reimagining its back catalogue rather than new numbered entries.
What Was Shown at Day of the Devs 2026
Day of the Devs is a showcase dedicated to indie games and other smaller projects. It occasionally reveals genuine masterpieces that go on to become major hits.
Tenebris Somnia
A retro horror game in the spirit of the early Resident Evil and Silent Hill entries, complete with powerful monsters, scarce ammo, inventory management, and puzzles. What sets it apart from other genre offerings is its unusual visual style, blending 2D graphics reminiscent of 8-bit-era games with live-action video footage. Tenebris Somnia releases on October 16, 2026, and a demo is already available.
Threads of Time
An old-school JRPG in the style of early Final Fantasy and Chrono Trigger. The heroes of Threads of Time journey through four distinct eras — prehistoric, medieval, futuristic, and post-apocalyptic. Time manipulation plays a role not only in the story, but in gameplay during the numerous turn-based battles as well.
Apple Crumble
A point-and-click adventure with an intriguing premise: an 84-year-old grandmother suspects her relatives and acquaintances of plotting to kill her. To find out the truth, you must conduct an investigation and identify the culprit — or convince yourself that the old dear is simply imagining things. According to the developers, it's designed to be a dark yet cozy experience that can be completed in about an hour and a half. Releases in 2026.
Trine 6: Together in Time
At Day of the Devs 2026, the sixth Trine was announced. As before, it's an action platformer with puzzles designed for co-op play. Each of the five available characters has unique abilities used both in combat and traversal. For example, squire Adrius uses his lance as a platform to reach higher ground, while thief Zoya relies on a rope to access otherwise unreachable spots. The games in this series have always had a pleasant fairy-tale atmosphere, and judging by the trailer, Trine 6: Together in Time will be no exception. A demo releases on June 15, with the full game following on September 16.
Ithaca
The road-trip adventure Ithaca was announced. In it, the main character — an environmentalist who has grown weary of fighting corporations — kidnaps an executive and sets out to meet like-minded activists in an Earth protection association. She faces a challenging journey during which her character may change significantly. The story develops directly in response to the choices you make as you play. Expect plenty of dialogue, clue-hunting, and character progression. According to the developers, Ithaca will pose hard questions about modern society that are sure to give you pause. The release date is set for late 2027.
What was shown at Future Game Show 2026
Another major conference, featuring trailers for both big AAA hits and modest indie games.
Wardogs
A gameplay trailer was shown for Wardogs, a shooter about modern warfare using air and ground vehicles in the spirit of the Battlefield series. The game's features include a 100-player multiplayer mode where players battle for control of a specific area, as well as building construction and destruction mechanics. The developers emphasize that Wardogs is not a battle royale, but a more traditional action game.
The Pines
A psychological horror game reminiscent of a hybrid of Alan Wake and Silent Hill. The action takes place in a foggy town, reminiscent of a Stephen King novel, where strange residents live and dubious cults thrive. Naturally, at some point you'll have to fight back against the local fanatics. Various melee weapons are used, from axes and bats to chainsaws. The game is scheduled for release in 2027.
Enginefall
An extraction shooter in which a minecart is your base. You'll need to upgrade it to eventually turn it into a true fortress with workbenches and weapons. This will unlock unique abilities and new equipment. To obtain valuable resources, you'll need to attack other trains and fight enemies with melee weapons and firearms. But keep in mind that Enginefall players can also attack your train.
Halloween: The Game
Halloween: The Game is planned as a multiplayer game. But at the Future Game Show it was revealed that we'll be getting a full-fledged story campaign for Michael Myers. It replays the events of the first film from 1978. Notably, the motion capture actor was Nick Castle, who played the main villain in John Carpenter's film. Typically, such projects with asymmetrical multiplayer avoid single-player modes. The release date is September 8, 2026.
Little Nightmares 3 — The Backstage
Little Nightmares 3 turned out to be extremely controversial. Meanwhile, a story expansion, The Backstage, was announced for it. A new protagonist and previously unseen monsters await you. The DLC will be released on June 12th.
The Sinking City 2
The second installment of The Sinking City series received a new trailer and a release date of August 18th. The action takes place in Arkham Asylum from the books by H.P. Lovecraft. It has no connection to the famous asylum from the Batman comics. Judging by the gameplay videos, the sequel will be a similar third-person shooter to the 2019 original. You can find more projects related to this universe in our selection of Best Lovecraftian Games and Cthulhu-Inspired Titles on PC and Consoles.
The Alters: Last Variable
Unusual survival game The Alters, with the ability to clone itself, will receive the Last Variable expansion. According to the story, Jan the Scientist remained on the planet and continued studying the Oasis anomaly. His gameplay will differ from what we saw in the original game. You can learn about its key features in our The Alters review. Completing the DLC will take approximately 12 hours.
Exodus
This is the debut project from Archetype Entertainment, led by James Ohlen and Drew Karpyshyn, former BioWare executives. They previously worked on the Mass Effect series. At Summer Game Fest 2026 [url=/gaming-news/157635-the-real-mass-effect-successor-19-minutes-of-sci-fi-rpg-exodus-gameplay-revealed.html]they showed almost 20 minutes[url] gameplay footage of Exodus, which is scheduled for release in 2027. The trailer created a strong impression that this is a worthy successor to Mass Effect. It will be interesting to compare it to the fifth installment in the series, if it ever comes out.
What was shown at the Xbox Games Showcase
This is an event hosted by Microsoft and its partners. Many of the games featured here are also being released on Xbox Series X, and some are part of the Xbox Game Pass program, meaning they are available for free with a subscription.
Gears of War: E-Day
The ceremony, as expected, began with a Gears of War: E-Day gameplay demonstration. This is a prequel to the entire story, where we play as a young Marcus Fenix. He runs through the streets in civilian clothes, shooting at Locusts emerging from the ground. We are shown the first hours after the conflict, when the last trains are still running in the city, electricity is still working in some places, and people have not yet had time to leave the dusty streets of the metropolis. Therefore, many of them fell victim to the locusts. Gunfights periodically alternate with hand-to-hand combat, and chainsaws are used. The mechanics will be familiar to anyone who has played at least one game in the series, but the new game feels fresh thanks to its darker setting. Gears of War: E-Day will be released on October 6, 2026. PS5 version apparently canceled.
Fable
The reboot of the Fable series looks noticeably darker than the original. In the new gameplay trailer, we saw world exploration, character encounters, and sword fights. The game looks like a high-quality modern RPG without any revelations. The main question is whether it has lost the uniqueness of the first games. We'll find out on February 23, 2027, when the new Fable goes on sale.
Halo: Campaign Evolved
Halo: Campaign Evolved is a remake of the story campaign from the very first game in the series. It looks like the familiar Halo game, but with modern technology in mind. At the Xbox Game Showcase gameplay of the remaster was shown and the release date was announced: July 28, 2026. The game will be available on PC, Xbox Series X, and PlayStation 5.
Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy
The A Plague series takes place in a dark medieval setting with fantasy elements. The gameplay is based on a combination of stealth, unusual action that requires you to know exactly which tools to use against specific enemies, and simple puzzles. Judging by the Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy trailer, the new game has a shift in focus to close-quarters combat. This game is a prequel to the entire story, and the main character is the pirate Sofia, familiar from the second game. The release is scheduled for August 27th.
Persona 4 Revival
The remake of the classic Persona 4 gets a new trailer. The remake looks like a high-quality anime series. Many character models have been redesigned from scratch to better fit the environment. A similar technique was used in the fifth installment and Persona 3 Reload. An excellent choice for both fans of the series and connoisseurs of modern jRPGs. The game will be released on February 18, 2027.
State of Decay 3
[Gameplay for the survival game State of Decay 3 was shown. The game takes place after the zombie apocalypse. The game has a sense of scale, a striking combat system with the ability to shoot off individual body parts, and a dark atmosphere. A threequel is expected to be released in 2027.
Metro 2039
Metro 2039 is once again set in post-apocalyptic Moscow. In the Xbox Games Showcase trailer, we saw battles above ground and underground, in the subway. The atmosphere is virtually unchanged; we see the same well-designed future world that has survived a nuclear war. The release is scheduled for February 2027.
Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember
Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember has been announced, a direct sequel to the excellent 2023 Soulslike. The developers are the same: Team Ninja, known for the Nioh series. A distinctive feature of the game is its combat system with the ability to hover in mid-air, similar to Devil May Cry. Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember is scheduled for release in the first half of 2027.
Senua
Senua, the third installment in the Hellblade series from the same developers at Ninja Theory, has been announced. The main character remains the same, and she plans to journey to the underworld once again to save those she loved. The 2017 original was memorable for its interesting audio design, making the voices sound as if they were in the player's head. This suited the concept, as Senua herself is insane. The sequel, however, went unnoticed. The game will be available on Game Pass at launch.
Doom: The Dark Ages — Revelations
Shooter Doom: The Dark Ages will receive the Revelations expansion. Judging by the trailer, we can expect a set of additional levels with the same gameplay and a few new features. However, major changes aren't required—in our review of Doom: The Dark Ages you can learn about the game's unique features. The Revelations trailer was a bit surprising, featuring a location that resembles a level from the very first games in the series. The DLC will be released on July 7th.
Crazy Taxi: World Tour
A new installment in the Crazy Taxi series has been announced. Technically, you're supposed to deliver a passenger from one point to another, but in reality, you need to drive as aggressively as possible and perform crazy stunts along the way. This will earn you more money. The new game is similar to the previous ones in terms of gameplay, even the signature yellow 1961 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz is still there. The graphics, however, have been noticeably improved, combining realistic and cartoonish styles. Crazy Taxi: World Tour is scheduled for release in 2027.
Valor Mortis
Valor Mortis gets a new trailer and a release date. This is a rather unusual first-person soulslayk game set in an alternate 19th century. You'll battle former soldiers of Napoleon's army who have become zombies. The plot is also connected to Napoleon Bonaparte, played by Vincent Cassel. The demo is already available, and the full game will be released on September 24, 2026.
Castlevania: Belmont's Curse
The new trailer for Castlevania: Belmont's Curse confirms that Konami is planning a classic return. We're not talking about the 3D Lords of Shadow, but rather the early installments that were released first on the NES and then on PlayStation. It was Metroid that defined the Metroidvania genre. Castlevania: Belmont's Curse looks like a pleasantly old-school experience with modern graphics. The release date is set for October 15, 2026.
Vivarium
Adventure game called Vivarium has been announced, and it looks like a new Hayao Miyazaki film. Judging by the trailer, we're in for a cozy adventure centered on exploring an unusual world. The game will be released in 2027 and will be available on Game Pass at launch.
Persona 6
Apparently, Atlus plans to develop the Persona series in the same way Capcom did with Resident Evil, alternating new installments with remakes of classics. At Xbox Game Showcase 2026, the sixth game in the series was announced. The teaser turned out surprisingly dark, as ifThis is a horror game. The release date has not yet been announced.
Spyro: A Realm Beyond
At the conference, a new Spyro the Dragon was announced. The previous game was released back in 2008. Like previous games in the series, Spyro: A Realm Beyond will be a colorful platformer starring a cute dragon. The game will be released in the spring of 2027.
Clockwork Revolution
The steampunk shooter with RPG elements Clockwork Revolution has received a new gameplay trailer. It feels like a worthy successor to BioShock, but in a slightly different setting. It combines a 19th-century setting and weaponry with the ability to rewind time, and the plot involves mechanical slaves. The game will be released in 2027.
Magicians: The Devil's Deal
At the Xbox Games Showcase the shooter Magicians: The Devil's Deal was announced. It features an unusual design—everything unfolds like a theater performance. Magic tricks and various illusions are used to defeat enemies. The concept is an infernal reflection of Victorian-era London. The style of Magicians: The Devil's Deal is reminiscent of Dishonored, and its gameplay evokes associations with BioShock.
