Roombattle Review — A Friendly Robot Vacuum Showdown. Who Can Pop the Balloons Faster?

Party games are meant for gatherings of friends. Simple arcade titles don’t require gaming experience and immediately draw everyone into loud, cheerful battles (in the best way possible). Roombattle is exactly that kind of game. This indie battler offers a fresh take on household vacuums, turning them into cleaning companions forced into survival duels.

Platform: PC;
Completion time: 10 hours.

Pop Balloons and Run!

The main characters of Roombattle, as mentioned, are robot vacuums. Each one is equipped with three balloons attached to the rear and a sharp spike for bursting opponents’ balloons. Fast-paced rounds take place in cozy home interiors and last only a few minutes. As the match nears its end, darkness engulfs the battlefield. The illuminated safe zone shrinks slowly, and the slower vacuums lose their balloons and perish. The last one standing wins.

However, the game is not as simple as it might seem. During battles, glass breaks, chairs fall over, and bowls of soup get tipped upside down. The destructibility turns the maps into playgrounds full of unpredictable obstacles. Puddles on the floor slow you down, while objects block movement and often become deadly traps. A couple of seconds — and the vacuums are torn apart by enemies.

Roombattle has three game modes. "Room Battle" follows the standard rules, while the additional modes tweak them a little. The wildest one is "Glitch." It alternates random changes to the map and fills matches with chaos. For example, it turns the image black and white, inverts the controls, or disables attacks and turns fights into clashes with special projectiles. "Balloon Chaos" is similar to the classic mode, but points are awarded for activity in combat. It will appeal to players who don’t like camping in the bushes. Between combat rounds, minigames take place. They last only half a minute and add variety. The developers let their imagination run wild and came up with lots of events — soccer, tag, and even dancing. A small bonus for one match is awarded for winning. Unfortunately, minigames are available only in the classic "Room Battle" mode.

And of course, there’s customization. Before the game, you can pick your favorite color, put on a funny hat, and even tweak the little vacuum’s eyes. You decide whether the vacuum becomes a kind fairy-tale friend or a swaggering pirate. Visual upgrades don’t affect combat stats, but they do set the mood. A robot’s style is yet another reason for friendly teasing. For more room to explore, see The Best Open-World Games for Low-End PCs and Laptops in 2026.

A Couple of Evenings of Fun

Roombattle does a good job of handling the main task of a party game. It is absurdly easy to control, requires no skill, and helps newcomers through random situations. You can never predict where objects will fall or learn to drive backward, so the whole group gets a dose of fun — there will be a new winner every time. A few tricks can help, but they won’t kill everyone’s interest. The problem is elsewhere.

The game stays entertaining for a few days, maybe a week at most. After that, it gets boring. The battle interiors repeat, chasing balloons becomes tiring, and there is less and less new content. In addition, for some reason, two modes do not include minigames. The decisive vacuum duels are reduced to mindless head-on attacks in the hope of a lucky knockout. The finale, the key moment of the battle, is the dullest part.

Roombattle also has a tiny online player base. More precisely, it has none. You can play with friends or with bots, but you cannot find a random match. For a game that lives on co-op, that is bad news. AI opponents are always available, but their predictable behavior turns the party into a children’s matinee. There’s not much interest there. Roombattle is a decent game for a couple of evenings, but it is unlikely to become a hit for your group. Good first impressions fade into repetition and boredom after a while.
