I got acquainted with the Battlefield series through the 3rd part, the game hooked me, although I was always skeptical about this series. Then there was the successful fourth part and the unsuccessful (for me personally) Hardline and Battlefront. And when they announced about Battlefield 1, that the game’s setting would be about the First World War, I was upset, because... The 3rd and 4th parts, which were successful for me, offered a large number of improvements for weapons, a large selection of gadgets, a variety of equipment, but during the First World War all this was not available.
Company
---
The company is divided into several unrelated storylines. The game is interesting, but nothing more. But it allows you to prepare for playing multiplayer and understand at least a little the mechanics of the game. The advantage of the company is that it is not drawn out and does not have time to get boring, but the disadvantage can be given for the ending - an ordinary uninteresting video.
Multiplayer
---
The Battlefield series has always been famous for its online mode, this part was no exception. We added weather effects that radically change battle tactics; the same fog does not allow snipers to aim even from medium distances. Gave the ability to jump over fences and other obstacles, which allows you to unexpectedly appear behind the enemy. “Hand-to-hand” battles have become more interesting, a powerful bayonet attack has been added (like a crazy person you run at the enemy with a bayonet pointed in front of you). Leveling up has been slightly reworked, in addition to the general level, there are also levels for each class, and in order to open a cool machine gun for an attack aircraft, you need to play many hours for this class, and also have the required number of bonds - the internal currency that is given for increasing the overall level of the character.
What I liked
---
Atmosphere - the ambiance of the First World War is conveyed in full. Sound - they clearly worked hard on the sound, I recommend playing with headphones. The graphics are beyond praise, and even if you don’t have the most powerful hardware and play on minimum settings, the game looks beautiful. Animation - now you can see how you get into the vehicle, the animation of hand-to-hand combat has been improved.
What I didn’t like
---
Balance - snipers have a great advantage due to the large number of open spaces, and they also often kill with the first shot. Players began to take snipers more often because of this. There are fewer meat fights at medium and close range.
Optimization/bugs - although they write everywhere that the game is perfectly optimized, there are often incomprehensible drawdowns; on the game forums, people with top-end hardware complain about low FPS. But with the release of patches, I hope the situation will improve.
There are few interesting gadgets and equipment, even horses can’t save the situation) Only the game setting is to blame for this.
Conclusion
---
Overall the game was a success, changing the game setting to the First World War is a bold step by DICE, only time will tell how successful it was. I have great fears that the game will get boring much faster than the 4th part, which I enjoyed playing even almost 3 years after its release.
