The game was a great success. It has become more diverse, more lively, of higher quality and worked out to the smallest detail. The idea of building bases is the only thing that I didn’t really like at first, but it adds its own flavor to the gameplay.
Hiring characters has become very useful, at first it was done alone, but a certain loneliness is felt, it’s another thing with a character who sometimes talks, gives hints, in general, an integral part of the plot. And you can expect all sorts of bonuses from them (from food to chemicals).
The New Vegas record for hours spent, number of quests completed, and main missions has been completely broken. I am glad that after completing it we are given the freedom to continue to enjoy an open world full of secrets and unexplored places.
And for those who made a separate save in a place responsible for the plot choice, you can play the plot in a different direction.
10 Nuka-Cola caps out of 10.
PS: will there be a mod with HD textures this time? Time will show.
Well, after almost a year I would like to add a few more words about DLCs.
I decided to take the season at a discount and it was worth it. But it was worth it only thanks to the large additions Far Harbor and Nuka-World, and a small Automatron, and perhaps that’s all. The rest are for construction enthusiasts, which I won’t talk about.
Far Harbor recalled the world of Lovecraft, specifically Innsmouth with its gloomy streets, fog, murky characters and monsters. A huge world to explore, a bunch of new quests will force you to immerse yourself in this new world.
We are waiting for the society of the Children of the Atom, a sect that worships radiation in a bunker with a nuclear submarine, waiting for the Great Division, which may well happen. The characters of Far Harbor are desperate residents of a former, fully prosperous island, driven by fog into the bay, where they survive the onslaught of fog monsters. Acadia is a city of synths, which has its own secrets, hidden even from the leader of the society, hidden by him, which will have to be found and decide the fate of the entire island.
Nuka-World has brought together three gangs of raiders, who are united by the main boss, whom they suddenly decided to betray. Now you are the boss, under our leadership we organize raider takeovers of various territories, be it the park of the future - Starlight, or the zoo, where sinister mutants who knew no mercy were once bred. Let's go further and meet the Kingdom, where the wizard Gul is in charge, who has turned the once children's park into an abundance of her own kind. We will not ignore the Commonwealth either, and there we will walk like a raider through our own territories. As a result, either the gangs will live in peace among themselves, or we will organize a revolution, fight and free this world from the oppressors of the lower population. In this addition, you almost always need to look for all sorts of details, otherwise interest may die out at the phrase “well, screw it.”
A few words about Automatron. A small DLC that adds the ability to build robots may appeal to many, but completing a couple of quests was enough.
In the end, the season fully justifies itself, Far Harbor turned out as expected - gorgeous. 10 hermit crabs out of 10! Nuka World is less interesting, but still 8 raider skulls out of 10. It’s hard to perceive Automatron as something big, which is why there are only 7 crazy robots out of 10.
PS: okay, a few words about the remaining DLCs. In one, where we find the new 88th Vault-Tec shelter, we take a rather humorous approach to testing on humans, some cause experimental subjects to explode, others stop eating, others... so, no spoilers. In another, we can domesticate from small animals to wild Deathclaws. Well, you can lure raiders into your traps with Super Mutants. Other Workshops with the opportunity to arrange their living spaces more brightly.
To summarize, I rate the entire product as a whole and overall 9 Yader-Kol out of 10.
