First of all, I want to immediately warn you: forget that this is Metal Gear. Not because it is bad as a part of the universe (not at all), but because this name always gives Kojima the shivers and you want to expect something mind-blowing. The game won't give you that. Moreover, those elements of the MG that it inherited are not even comparable to those that we had in the MG.
Here the dialogues are weaker, they are built more on quantity than on quality (but this is only by MGS standards), the metal gears themselves are perceived much more simply, history, politics, the “human message”, all these elements are not of the same level , what Kojima gave us. But it’s not necessary. The feeling of this game can be compared to an old beat-up car. It seems like the same brand, but it’s not the same, and the model is strange, but as soon as you step on the gas, it will jerk so hard that you won’t even have time to think why you’re smiling now.
This is 100% action. Wild pace, pretentious videos, hardcore music, dismemberment (albeit of robots), pretentious dialogues brutal in the heart, that’s what this game is. Not everyone will feel this at first, but the game shows its true colors in boss battles. When mind-blowing music plays, you fight with a really dangerous opponent like head-to-head, everything is fast, a pretentious blow appears, a cool animation of a series of moves appears, a cool guitar solo plays and the vocals come in at the very peak... it’s indescribable. Yes, regular battles can become boring due to Raiden’s superiority over his opponents, but once you feel this drive from a boss battle, you want more.
And at the same time we have a good plot, normal characters, a good world... in general, if you forget that this is Metal Gear, then on the whole we have a very good fighting game. Without deep systems and the desire to frequently change weapons, but with its own indescribable moments.
P.s. I haven’t erased the sound from the player for a year now. I don’t know how, but Platinums created a simply magnificent ost, making me regret that I will never hear something like this live =
