Games Ori and the Will of the Wisps All reviews Review from s1mpleDan

I'm a huge fan of the Ori series. I loved both the first part and, in general, the second with all my heart. And a lot of compliments and inspired speeches about the game have already been said. Of course, it’s difficult to find any downsides in such a beautiful and touching game. But who, if not the fans, find fault with every little detail in their favorite creation?

Now I’ll try to talk about some aspects that I, to some extent, did not like:

(There will be plot SPOILERS below. Please do not read if you have not completed the game yet)

I’ll start from the very beginning, namely from an owl named little Ku. From the very first cutscenes you can see that the owl has problems with its wing, but nowhere in the game is the reason for this revealed. There's not even a hint. As they say: “Well, it’s broken, and it’s broken...”.

Further in the story, when the separation of Ku and Ori has already occurred, we will meet the first boss - the wolf. Nothing is known about him either, and after a small battle he disappears from the plot forever. Apparently the developer wanted to introduce full combat in the later stages of the game, but got carried away with other aspects of the game. There is a similar sand wolf statue on the way to the desert area, but I don't think it's the same character.

Until the end of the game, everything seems to be clear. But by the end there are a few more complaints:

1. The whole point of Scream is that she is evil? We were shown her backstory, explained why it was impossible to do anything, but this is Ori's game. This is a fairy tale. Just defeating a bird and leaving it to die with the ashes of its parents... this is somehow not Orievsky or something...

2. Ori becomes a tree, we see how time passes, and gradually all our familiar characters simply die from old age. I understand that the developers wanted to complete the story of all the familiar characters in this way and start everything from scratch in the next part (there was a cliffhanger in the role of a leaf from the Ori tree, so it’s still worth waiting for some kind of continuation), but this is somehow too too fast and daring. And in general, we see these characters only at the beginning and end of the game. It's a shame that they weren't given at least an extra 2-3 cutscenes in the middle of the game.

As for the owl, it’s completely unclear. In all the trailers, Ku was shown as almost the second main character. The whole game should revolve around this bird. As a result, we run, run, run, find her, play with her for 15-20 minutes and she is knocked down again until the end of the game. And it seems like a game about an owl and Ori, but it seems not.

I repeat, I really liked the game. Essentially, these are just small nitpicks that you can think about. It is quite possible that I am wrong somewhere.
