Perestroika is one of the first Soviet arcade games from Nikita Skripkin, an employee of the scientific cooperative LoCis. On the splash screen, from behind the Kremlin wall, the languid gaze of the huge Gorbachev will await you, accompanied by the native melody “Dubinushka”. In the game, you have to try on the role of a “frog-democrat” in order to jump across the “emerging islands of freedom” and pick up or avoid objects that respectively increase or decrease well-being. The project became a hit not only here, but also in the West.
