The first reviews of Black Myth: Wukong have appeared
Gaming publications have published the first reviews of Black Myth: Wukong ahead of the release. At the same time, the action game about the Monkey King received high scores on Metacritic.
First of all, gaming journalists highly praised the battles — many praised the balance, resource management and fast pace of gameplay. Some even compared the action game to the latest God of War series, calling the game too forgiving for soulslikes. Rock Paper Shotgun called the project «a refreshing adventure after the Elden Ring DLC», and a journalist from PC Gamer called Black Myth: Wukong «one of the most fun RPGs he's ever played». The action game also had its downsides — for example, the IGN portal complained about poor optimization and a large number of bugs such as missing subtitles, freezes and disappearances of bosses.
Pros:
- Gameplay — combat and balance;
- Opponent design and battle design;
- Convenient character leveling system;
- Sound design;
- A rich world to explore with secrets and hiding places;
- Game design and graphics.
Cons:
- Performance issues and bugs;
- Limited vertical gameplay;
- Quite limited battles;
- Not the best level design;
- No map or markers.
At the time of writing, Black Myth: Wukong's Metacritic rating was 82 out of 100.
The action game will be released next Tuesday, August 20. The project will be released on PC and PlayStation 5. The system requirements are listed here, and you can test the game on your PC using the official benchmark on Steam.
