Fallout 3 Designer Reveals Major Flaw That a Remaster Could Fix

With fans' hopes for The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered now fulfilled, it's time to talk about other potential remasters from Bethesda. One of the developers of Fallout 3 shared what he would like to see in an improved game.
In a new interview with VideoGamer, former TES 4: Oblivion and Fallout 3 designer Bruce Nesmith said that he would like some elements from Fallout 4 in a possible remaster of the post-apocalyptic RPG. In particular, he is concerned about the combat system — the shooting in the third installment was so-so.
I know in Fallout 4 there was a lot of work done on the gun combat, because Fallout 3 is the first time they ever tried to do a shooter-style game. And, well, I think the work that was done was amazing.
[Fallout 3 combat] didn’t hold up to shooters at the time. Also, it’s an RPG shooter, it’s not a run-and-gun shooter. But a lot of the work was done on that for Fallout 4. So I anticipate seeing a lot of that work going into it, assuming they’re doing the same thing.
Rumors about a Fallout 3 remaster began to spread with redoubled force after the release of The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered. The project was mentioned in Microsoft court documents in 2023, and recently one of the insiders said that the game is still in development.
Recall that Bruce Nesmith previously assessed the Oblivion remaster from Virtuos, which is already available on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
