Larian Studios has shared a few updates about its plans following the success of Baldur's Gate 3. In a recent interview, studio head Swen Vincke revealed that the company is currently working on two ambitious new projects. While details remain under wraps, development is already in full swing. Vincke emphasized that both games are highly complex and require significant effort, as Larian is known for its deep player interaction and the multitude of choices available in its games.
He also mentioned that the studio has opened a new branch in Warsaw to help with development, allowing Larian to work on two games simultaneously. However, this also brings organizational challenges. The complexity of these projects makes it difficult to predict exactly when they will be completed.
As for Baldur's Gate 3, the eighth patch was the game's last major update, and the studio is now shifting its focus entirely to its new titles.
Meanwhile, Wizards of the Coast (the company that owns the rights to Dungeons & Dragons) is currently deciding who will develop the next installment in the Baldur's Gate series. According to them, a sequel is planned, but it likely won't happen in the near future, as they want to avoid rushed comparisons to the success of Baldur's Gate 3.
By the way, in the same interview, Swen Vincke also explained why Larian Studios decided not to release any DLC for Baldur's Gate 3.
