Remedy Reveals Control 2's Budget — It's Lower Than Alan Wake 2's

Remedy Entertainment has shared new details about the development of Control 2. In an interview with Game File, the studio’s CEO Tero Virtala revealed that the game’s budget is around $57 million.
For comparison, this is less than Alan Wake 2, which had a budget of about $79 million. The reduced spending is part of Remedy’s strategy to keep budgets reasonable, allowing projects to break even faster. For example, the developers only need to sell two million copies for Control 2 to break even, while selling four million would make the game highly profitable.
Remedy is also training its staff to use resources efficiently and avoid overspending. Interestingly, Alan Wake 2 ended up costing more due to unexpected production delays. Despite the differences in budget, both games are important to Remedy, as they take place in the same universe. The studio is also working on remakes of Max Payne and Max Payne 2, which are being funded by Rockstar Games.
Additionally, FBC: Firebreak — a Control spin-off — is set to launch on June 17, 2025, for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
