Rumor: Red Dead Redemption 2 Set for Next-Gen Revival, May Arrive on Switch 2

According to a report by Gamereactor, Rockstar Games is expected to launch a next-gen version of Red Dead Redemption 2 later this year. The updated edition will include various enhancements for modern consoles and is also said to be heading to the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2.

The outlet cites sources close to Rockstar, who claim that a port for Nintendo’s new console is in the works and may release as early as 2025. This information has reportedly been corroborated by other gaming media, including Nintendúo.

Alongside the Switch 2 version—or shortly afterward—Rockstar may also release an upgraded edition of Red Dead Redemption 2 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. While a PC version hasn't been mentioned, the console update is expected to feature improved visuals and performance boosts.

Originally released in 2018 for PS4 and Xbox One, Red Dead Redemption 2 later launched on PC in 2019. This year, the open-world Western celebrates its seventh anniversary.

The news follows recent rumors about a potential remaster of Grand Theft Auto 4. Recently, fans have noted visual similarities and differences between RDR2 and scenes shown in the second trailer for GTA 6.
