Rumor: New Tomb Raider Reportedly in Late Stages of Development

A recent job listing from Crystal Dynamics has led some fans to believe that the next Tomb Raider game is nearing the end of its development. According to rumors, the title might be revealed later this year during the Summer Game Fest.

A Reddit user by the name of somethingisnotwight spotted a LinkedIn job posting from a production director working on the new Tomb Raider. The company is currently seeking a Senior Level Designer to lead "strike teams" and work on levels involving puzzles and gameplay enhancements.

Interestingly, "strike teams" are typically assigned to projects in the later stages of development. As explained by somethingisnotwight, these small teams are responsible for bug fixing, performance optimization, and polishing the final product. They are usually brought in during the late beta phase or final stages of production.

This has led to speculation that the new Tomb Raider is relatively close to release. Several insiders have hinted at this possibility — back in February, the reputable outlet GamesIndustry reported that the game was expected to be unveiled this year.

Recently, leaked screenshots from a cancelled remake of Tomb Raider: Anniversary also surfaced online. The remake was being developed by the same team responsible for the TES 4: Oblivion remaster.
