The developers at Obelisk Studio have released a cinematic teaser trailer for their upcoming survival horror action game, Displacement, which the media has already dubbed the spiritual successor to Condemned. Gamers, too, couldn’t help but draw comparisons to the iconic franchise.
“Welcome back Condemned Criminal Origins,” wrote weepingmoon1159.
“Slavs have a thing for Condemned style games, Hunt Traque and Cryostasis was cool,” added dogus4728.
“It looks like a mix of Dead Space, Condemned, and The Thing. Really hope they manage to finish this project,” said Tumatutuma.
“Please buy back the remake rights of the games "Condemned Criminal Origins" & "Condemned 2 Bloodshot" from you, judging by what I saw in the teaser. IT CAN REALLY BE INCREDIBLE,” suggested vladislavskoba8330.
“Major Condemned vibes! Love it,” commented TheRealJackArthur.
The main character is a psychologist who finds himself at a polar station where the staff have fallen victim to a mysterious madness.
"Keep your sanity or lose your mind — the choice is yours," reads the official description.
Madness in the game affects not only the atmosphere but also the gameplay itself, forming the basis for several mechanics. For example, the main character can gain new abilities depending on how far they've descended into insanity.
Other features include immersive first-person storytelling with no HUD, brutal executions (which vary depending on the weapon used), unique bosses, and 20 different melee weapons.
Displacement can now be added to your wishlist on Steam.
