A recent financial report from Embracer Group, the parent company of Crystal Dynamics, includes a mention of an unnamed but highly expected AAA project from the studio. According to the report, Crystal Dynamics has brought in an external partner to assist with development and plans to delay the release by a year.
The document states that the launch of the unannounced AAA title has been postponed to the 2026/27 fiscal year. While no specific name is mentioned, it’s widely speculated that the project in question is the next Tomb Raider — as the company currently has no other major titles in the pipeline besides Killing Floor 3 and Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra.
For the other previously expected third AAA title in FY 2025/26, management is now taking the more prudent view that the game will likely need a few more quarters to polish and subsequently would release in FY 2026/27. We expect this specific game to have financial dynamics more similar to Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.
The report also notes that Crystal Dynamics has signed a deal with an external company to collaborate "for one of its largest IPs" in its portfolio.
It’s worth noting that Crystal Dynamics recently began forming "strike teams" to work on the new Tomb Raider, possibly hinting at an announcement in the near future. According to rumors, the game may be revealed as early as this summer.
