“The Deadpool Incident”: Hollow Knight: Silksong Community Melts Down Over Missed Trailer Reveal

The r/Silksong subreddit is once again ablaze — this time due to a joke made during Summer Game Fest 2025. A new trailer for Hollow Knight: Silksong was allegedly skipped in favor of announcing Marvel’s Deadpool VR.

For context: before showcasing the game about the wisecracking merc in red, host Geoff Keighley received a "threatening" letter from Deadpool himself, listing several demands. The final item read: "You’re gonna do me a solid and skip that Silksong trailer so you can pimp my revolutionary VR gaming venture".

The tongue-in-cheek announcement sparked real outrage among Silksong fans, who were once again left craving even the tiniest crumb of new information about the long-awaited metroidvania. The community quickly declared Deadpool persona non grata on the subreddit, responding with a wave of memes, angry comments, and sarcastic posts poking fun at the situation. The whole episode was soon dubbed "The Deadpool Incident".

Team Cherry also responded to the controversial moment — naturally, with a joke of their own. Matthew Griffin stated that he was not thrilled by what happened, joking that they had paid a hefty sum to get their trailer shown, but then Deadpool came in and ruined everything.

For the record, Hollow Knight: Silksong is still scheduled to release this year on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2. According to insider reports, the launch is expected before the end of summer.
