The developers of the unofficial remake of The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion, built on the Skyrim engine, have reached an agreement with CD Projekt RED to host their project on GOG. Good news for players — upon release, Skyblivion will be launched via a dedicated launcher.
GOG has graciously allowed us to bring Skyblivion to their launcher. We're still evaluating all of the possible ways (and launchers) to get Skyblivion into your hands later this year. Of course, more details about how and where we will make Skyblivion available will be shared closer to release.
It’s worth noting that GOG previously did the same for the creators of the ambitious mod Fallout: London. However, there’s a downside for those eagerly awaiting the Oblivion remake — launching it will require both Oblivion GOTY Deluxe Edition and The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim Anniversary Edition.
Interestingly, GOG also announced a new One-click Mods feature yesterday, designed to simplify the integration of user-made mods. The first supported titles include Horn of the Abyss for Heroes of Might and Magic 3: Complete, Phobos for Doom 3, and the Unofficial Patch for Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines.
As a reminder, Skyblivion is set to release later this year on PC. Bethesda has not blocked the project — in fact, the studio invited the dev team to tour its offices and gifted each member a copy of The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered.
