The cult shooter Postal 2 is getting a full remaster in Unity, developed by Flat2VR Studios, Team Beef, and Running With Scissors. The project will be a complete overhaul of the original game, featuring updated graphics and optimization for modern systems.
Titled Postal 2 Redux, the idea for the remaster came during the development of the VR version by Flat2VR Studios. The team realized the game was in need of a proper modernization, leading all three studios to join forces on the project.
Postal 2 Redux is a ground‑up overhaul of 2003’s infamous open‑world shooter. Part modernization, part love‑letter, Postal 2 Redux will hoist every original asset out of the creaking Unreal 1.5 engine and slam it into today’s Unity—delivering the same familiar week in the Postal Dude’s life with a merciless glow‑up and a bucket of new toys.
The remaster will feature new graphics, various stability improvements, dynamic lighting, minimal loading times, improved crowd and NPC AI, a reworked arsenal, fully destructible interiors, and a brand-new Champ, who can be either petted or sicced on others. The developers also promise realistic physics and even more hidden Easter eggs.
Postal 2 Redux is planned for release on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Mac, and Linux. However, the list of platforms may change over time. Development will be partially funded via Kickstarter.
