Death Stranding 2 Features a Few «Cringe-Worthy» Easter Eggs from Hideo Kojima — and Fans Have Already Found One
Hideo Kojima has revealed that he personally hid several quirky, self-referential Easter eggs in Death Stranding 2: On The Beach. According to the famed game designer, all of them are connected to him in some way — and players have already uncovered at least one.
In an interview with Japanese outlet GameSpark, Kojima admitted he had insisted on adding a few cameo-like Easter eggs into the game, but his team initially ignored the suggestion. As a result, he secretly implemented a few humorous references himself, warning that "some of them might cause certain people to cringe hard."
He teased one such Easter egg, which appears if players visit a hot spring at night and look up at the stars. Online sleuths have already discovered that doing so reveals a surprise — Kojima himself silently watching from above.
Death Stranding 2 officially launched on June 26 as a PlayStation 5 exclusive. The sequel has received high praise from both critics and players. Numerous studios have also congratulated Kojima Productions on the successful release of the follow-up to the original "courier simulator."
