Crystal Dynamics Reportedly Struggling with New Tomb Raider, Insider Says

Following reports of mass layoffs and game cancellations at Xbox, new rumors suggest that other studios are also facing challenges. According to an insider, Crystal Dynamics is "struggling" with the development of the next Tomb Raider.
The information comes from senior Kotaku reporter who recently revealed that the trailer for the now-canceled Perfect Dark reboot was essentially "fake." He noted that the now-defunct Xbox studio The Initiative had been closely collaborating with Crystal Dynamics — the same team behind the upcoming Tomb Raider — and that they too are dealing with internal issues: "This was a joint project with Crystal Dynamics, a studio that's also struggling with Tomb Raider."
The new Tomb Raider has been in development since 2022, using Unreal Engine 5. Crystal Dynamics has not shared any trailers or gameplay footage to date. Recently, the studio began forming "strike teams," which may signal that the game is entering its final development phase.
There are also rumors that the next Tomb Raider could launch in the same month as Grand Theft Auto 6.
