Hideo Kojima's Horror Game Survives Xbox's Wave of Cancellations

Despite Microsoft’s mass layoffs and the cancellation of several high-profile projects, OD, the upcoming horror title from Japanese game designer Hideo Kojima, remains unaffected and is still in active development, according to Windows Central’s Jez Corden.
Originally announced in 2023, OD is being developed as an interactive film powered by Unreal Engine 5. The project stars It actress Sophia Lillis, with additional roles played by Hunter Schafer, Udo Kier, and Jordan Peele. Kojima previously described the game as a "new form of media," aiming to deliver a unique gameplay experience through the use of cloud technologies.
Meanwhile, the ongoing cuts at Xbox have impacted numerous other projects. A third-person shooter from Doom co-creator John Romero lost its funding, while Perfect Dark, Everwild, and an unannounced MMORPG from the developers of The Elder Scrolls Online were officially canceled.
