Ahead of the release of Borderlands 4, Gearbox Software CEO Randy Pitchford decided to make life easier for completionists by sharing a map revealing the locations of all in-game collectibles. However, not every fan appreciated the move.

Pitchford explained that he challenged the developers to encourage exploration in Borderlands 4, aiming to get players to seek out points of interest and mini-stories scattered throughout the world. The team came up with the idea of placing 200 collectible Marcus Bobbleheads figures across the map, each tied to a specific location and its own narrative — such as a dead person’s home or an artist’s workspace.

But Pitchford went a step further and posted a full map showing where every Marcus is located. If you’d prefer to discover them on your own, you might want to scroll past the image.

Some fans criticized the flamboyant CEO in the comments, saying he undermined the core idea. Pitchford’s response was blunt:

Quit clutching your pearls. Literally all the information will be instantly accessible with simple internet searches. If you want to enjoy the challenge, don’t look at or search for walkthroughs. Also, even with the map you’re looking for needles in haystacks. Good luck!

Still, plenty of players supported the idea, expressing excitement at the chance to explore every corner of the game in search of the prized collectibles.

Borderlands 4 launches on September 12 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2. Just days ago, nearly two hours of gameplay footage surfaced online, showing one of the playable characters in action.
