A new open-world post-apocalyptic survival game called Dreadzone has launched in Steam Early Access. The project has already received its first reviews—most of which are negative. At the time of writing, the game holds a rating of just 33%.

Players are mainly criticizing the game for its “blurry” graphics, poor optimization, and lack of content.

Dreadzone is set in the year 2030, after the Zeno-29 virus has nearly wiped out civilization. Players find themselves in one of the isolated quarantine zones—a wild, dangerous area filled with ruins, mutants, and desperate survivors. The story centers on the protagonist’s gradual infection, adding a constant sense of pressure and tough choices: fight for a cure, or accept the inevitable.

Gameplay focuses on scavenging resources, crafting weapons and tools, building shelters, and exploring the devastated world. Players can hunt, gather materials, trade, and interact with other survivors. Exploration is a major feature, with abandoned bunkers, ruined buildings, and hidden underground areas to discover throughout the ominous zone.

The progression system offers different paths: cooperate with scientists working on a cure, or embrace mutation and rebel against the authorities. Enemies range from mutants and zombies to armed soldiers and wild animals, making every venture into the zone a risky challenge. According to the description, the game features both single-player and co-op modes. Dreadzone is available on Steam with a 15% discount until July 31.
