Gearbox Software has officially revealed the release date for Borderlands 4 on Nintendo Switch 2 — the game will launch on October 3, 2025. The announcement came from studio founder Randy Pitchford on social media, who noted that fans have been eagerly awaiting news and were concerned by the lack of pre-orders and a confirmed launch date.
It’s worth mentioning that Borderlands 4 will arrive earlier on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S — those versions are set for release on September 12. You can check out gameplay footage here.
Borderlands 4 is a shooter with RPG elements set on a new planet called Kyros, ruled by the tyrannical Timekeeper. Players will choose from four new Vault Hunters, develop unique active abilities, customize their combat style through skill trees, and take on countless enemies using a huge variety of chaotic weaponry.
The game features a dynamic movement system, including double jumps, slides, and dodges, and puts a strong emphasis on four-player cooperative play. Kyros is an open world, allowing players to freely explore different biomes, take on missions, participate in random events, and interact with local factions. Borderlands 4 is all about massive action, a deep loot system, and a wide range of gameplay possibilities.
