Julian LeFay, one of the original creators of The Elder Scrolls universe, has passed away at the age of 59 after a long battle with cancer.
The news was shared by developers at OnceLost Games, where LeFay had been working on the fantasy RPG The Wayward Realms. Just last week, he officially stepped away from the project to spend more time with his loved ones.
Often referred to as “the father of The Elder Scrolls,” LeFay joined Bethesda Softworks in 1987 and left in 1998. During his time at the studio, he played a key role in the creation of The Elder Scrolls: Arena, Daggerfall, and An Elder Scrolls Legend: Battlespire, and was also briefly involved in the early development of Morrowind. The in-game deity Julianos was named in his honor.
