Gearbox Software has announced via social media that Borderlands 4 has officially gone gold. This means the looter-shooter is fully complete and ready for release, with no delays expected — barring any unforeseen emergencies.

The term "gone gold" refers to the completion of the game’s final build, which is then sent for mass production. Before this, the game undergoes thorough testing and last-minute polishing.
Set six years after the events of Borderlands 3, the fourth main entry takes players to the planet Kyros, a world reshaped by a massive cataclysm. Vault Hunters are once again drawn to its mysteries. Players can choose from four new characters, each with unique abilities, and encounter familiar faces like Claptrap, Moxxi, and more.
Borderlands 4 launches September 12 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. A Nintendo Switch 2 version will follow shortly after, on October 3. PC system requirements are available now.
