Free Demo of Fan-Made Unreal Remaster Using NVIDIA Tech Now Available
Diana Golenko
Modder mstewart401 has released a demo version of his UnrealRTX project, which revives the classic Unreal (1998) with updated graphics and effects. The "remaster" was developed using NVIDIA's RTX Remix tool.
The mod adds full ray tracing, realistic shadows, high-quality effects, reflections, and various other visual enhancements, including HD-upscaled textures. The author also reworked vegetation and added new light sources to improve the atmosphere.
You can download the UnrealRTX demo via this link — the total size of the distribution is just over 13 GB. The demo includes 14 levels from the original game. Modder mstewart401 plans to release the full version of the mod later this year.
For reference, new screenshots of a fan-made Half-Life 2 remaster by a solo developer also surfaced recently.
