Leak: 'Far Cry' Series Announced from Creator of 'Fargo' and 'Alien: Earth'

A Ubisoft press release appeared online ahead of schedule, revealing that the company is developing a Far Cry TV series for FX. Noah Hawley — known for Fargo and the upcoming Alien: Earth — has been tapped as showrunner.

The press release has since been removed, but details remain online. According to reports, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia star Rob McElhenney will serve as a producer and take the lead role — though it’s still unclear which character he’ll portray. Ubisoft promises an entirely new story, characters, and locations for each season.

No filming or premiere dates have been announced yet, but Ubisoft is expected to officially confirm the series soon following the leak.

For reference, production on the Assassin’s Creed adaptation began in July, with the project helmed by the co-creators of Westworld and the Halo TV series.
