Dragon Age fans would love to see a remastered collection in the vein of Mass Effect Legendary Edition — or even full remakes — but Electronic Arts and BioWare have remained silent on the matter. According to a studio veteran, the reason comes down to a lack of willingness to fund the project.

Former BioWare executive producer Mark Darrah told MrMattyPlays in an interview that the studio had pitched the idea to the publisher multiple times. Developers hoped to create a Dragon Age: Champion’s Trilogy remaster collection or a full-fledged Origins remake. However, EA repeatedly turned it down — not only is it technically challenging due to the games being built on different engines, but the publisher also didn’t want to allocate enough budget for it.

If BioWare ever moves forward with such a project, the team would have to rely solely on its own manpower and existing resources. For now, the studio can’t afford to do so while working on Mass Effect 5.

Darrah previously spoke about the reasons behind the failure of Anthem, whose servers will shut down in early 2026. Another misstep for BioWare was Dragon Age: The Veilguard — you can read about its shortcomings in our review.
