The 10 Best Prequel Games of All Time Have Been Named: God of War, Batman, and RDR Series Are on the List

IGN has published its own top list of the best game prequels throughout the history of the video game industry. The selection includes projects from Rockstar Games, Konami, Nintendo, Santa Monica Studio, and other developers.
The unquestionable leader of the list is Red Dead Redemption 2, which reveals the backstory of Dutch van der Linde’s gang. Taking second and third places are Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater and Deus Ex: Human Revolution. The full list is as follows:

- Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater;
- Deus Ex: Human Revolution;
- Yakuza 0;
- Halo: Reach;
- Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening;
- Divinity: Original Sin;
- Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island;
- God of War: Chains of Olympus;
- Batman: Arkham Origins.
IGN noted that the games were selected not only for their technological and gameplay achievements but also for how they changed the perception of familiar characters, introduced new stories, and offered a fresh take on their franchises.
Recall that recently gamers chose their best game of the decade. The list included Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Elden Ring, Baldur's Gate 3, and even some unexpected projects.
