Game designer Claudia Rivera, who is also working on the survival shooter Road to Vostok, is developing an ambitious mod for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl. The yet-untitled project aims to make survival in the Zone even more realistic with new gameplay mechanics.

One of the key features is a DayZ-like system that tracks the player’s body temperature. Even more exciting, the mod introduces base building: in the showcase video below, Skif sets up a tent, unrolls a sleeping bag, and cooks dinner by the campfire.

Rivera noted that the mod works seamlessly with her other projects, Craftable Zone and Lootable Zone. Both are inspired by S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Anomaly and allow players to craft a wide range of items missing from the main game.

There’s no release date for the mod yet. In the meantime, check out the “brainrot” mods that bring CJ, Shrek, and Thomas the Tank Engine into the game.

Earlier, GSC released minor patch 1.5.3, fixing several bugs. A larger update, version 1.6, is planned for later and will upgrade S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 to an improved engine while also adding night vision.
