Hideo Kojima Responds to Questions About Death Stranding 3

Hideo Kojima has already come up with a concept for Death Stranding 3, but he currently has no plans to develop the game. During an interview in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, as part of the Death Stranding 2 world tour, Kojima was asked about a potential third installment. He explained that the ending of Death Stranding 2 serves as a conclusion to both the first and second games, but he does have an idea for a third entry—and hopes someone else might bring it to life.
I'm not planning to do that at the moment, because the ending of Death Stranding 2 was my finale of 1 and 2. But I already wrote the concept of DS3, so I have that in data. I hope that someone would create it for me.
Previously, Kojima mentioned that he often thinks about his own mortality and has left a USB drive with ideas as a kind of “will” for Kojima Productions, so the studio could continue creating new projects after him. However, he’s not interested in anyone trying to copy him, so he’s not planning to pass the baton just yet.
I am not going to pass the baton to anyone. I will rather crush the baton… [Laughs.] I don’t need to give “Hideo Kojima” to anyone. If I pass the baton to my staff and tell them to make things the same way I do, the company will not succeed and will go out of business.
Kojima currently has plenty of other projects in the works: Death Stranding is getting a film adaptation in partnership with A24 and director Michael Sarnoski, and he himself is working on two new games—a horror project called OD with Xbox, and a spy action game titled Physint.
As for Death Stranding 2, it launched this June on PS5 to critical acclaim. In our review, we praised the game for its stunning graphics, excellent optimization, and the fact that it’s nearly impossible to get stuck during the playthrough.
