The most successful PlayStation games of all time in the US revealed — GTA and Call of Duty dominate the charts

September 9 marked the 30th anniversary of the PlayStation’s US debut. To celebrate the milestone, Mat Piscatella of analytics firm Circana shared the top-selling and highest-grossing titles ever released on Sony consoles in the United States.
In both rankings, Grand Theft Auto 5 came out on top. The Rockstar hit has sold more than 200 million copies worldwide, with most of the remaining spots split between other Rockstar releases and the Call of Duty franchise.

As a bonus, Piscatella also highlighted the best-selling titles for the original PlayStation. Based on units sold, the top five were Gran Turismo, Final Fantasy VII, Gran Turismo 2, Crash Bandicoot 3, and Tekken 3. The revenue-based list included Gran Turismo 2, Crash Bandicoot 2, Gran Turismo, Crash Bandicoot 3, and the Jampack demo collection.
Looking ahead, it’s almost certain that Grand Theft Auto 6 will crash into the top ranks next year. Devolver Digital’s co-founder recently went so far as to call the long-awaited blockbuster an "AAAAA-tier" game.
