Cyberpunk 2077 Quest Designer Clears Up Fan Misconceptions About V’s Age: “Go Update the Wiki”
Diana Golenko
Among Cyberpunk 2077 fans, it’s long been believed that the RPG’s protagonist is just 23 years old. However, the merc turned out to be older, according to CD Projekt RED quest designer and lorekeeper Patrick K. Mills.
The misconception about V’s age is so widespread that it even made its way onto the fan-run Cyberpunk Wiki. But now editors will have to correct the character’s page to state that the protagonist is actually 27. Mills also emphasized that both the male and female versions of V share the same birthday — the earlier discrepancy was simply a mistake:
I don't care what anybody says, V is 27 not 22 or whatever. Also masc and femme v have the same birthdays, it's just a mistake that they were ever different. THE LOREMASTER HAS SPOKEN. Go update the wiki.
Some fans online have already noted that V can now officially be considered part of the “27 Club” — the list of influential musicians such as Kurt Cobain and Jimi Hendrix who passed away at that age. Given Cyberpunk 2077’s storyline and the presence of rocker Johnny Silverhand, the comparison feels more than fitting.
Recently, Cyberpunk 2077 received another patch fixing issues from the major 2.3 update. Meanwhile, Keanu Reeves has expressed interest in returning as Johnny Silverhand if the character appears in the sequel.
