Borderlands 4 Receives New Patch That Causes More Issues on PC Instead of Fixing Them

Gearbox Software released another patch for Borderlands 4, intended to improve the game’s stability on PC. However, immediately after the update went live, some players began reporting new issues that were not present before the patch.

This update improves stability on PC, smooths out progression, and updates the Gilded Glory Pack loot and rewards for a more seamless experience. Please restart your game to ensure that the update goes through and to prevent connection errors in matchmaking.

The patch was supposed to fix several animation, audio, and collision glitches, as well as some GPU-related problems. Regarding gameplay, it addressed issues with the Reward Center not functioning after claiming Gilded Glory Pack rewards, fixed progress lock in the mission Talk to Zadra, removed “Doesn’t own DLC” messages for non-DLC equipment, and prevented Gilded Glory Pack weapons from dropping in regular loot chests.

Gearbox has informed players about the new patch release, yet some users began reporting new problems on the PC version. According to the fan account Borderlands 4 Bulletin, several players experienced crashes to desktop and performance drops. Similar reports can be found on Reddit:

Never had any crashes the entire story. Log in today after the update to do the mission that unlocks UVH and it crashes on the boss fight. Making me do the entire mission all over again.

I'm getting hard crashes after the patch. I've got 60 hours in and haven't had a single one, I've had 3 in the last 30 mins.

Meanwhile, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford acknowledged performance issues with Borderlands 4 on PlayStation 5. Previously, he had described the looter-shooter as a “premium game for premium gamers,” justifying the poor optimization of the PC version. As a reminder, the shooter is scheduled for release on Nintendo Switch 2 on October 3.
