Fog has always been an integral element of the Silent Hill series, as legendary as the protagonist’s use of a pipe as a weapon. Players previously experimented with removing it from Silent Hill 2, and now it’s time for the new Silent Hill f.

YouTuber Lootward experimented with the PC version of the horror game, clearing the streets of Ebisugaoka from the perpetual mist that usually limits visibility. For comparison, he explored the surroundings and village houses, showing life in 1960s rural Japan with and without fog. Naturally, the locations instantly lost their eerie atmosphere — now every alley and lurking enemy is visible, and in some cases the fog had completely hidden the crimson sky from players.

Silent Hill f is a full-fledged new entry in the series, set in Japan during the second half of the 20th century. Schoolgirl Hinako Shimizu, along with her friends, finds herself in an alternate version of her hometown shrouded in fog and strange vegetation, and must confront her own personal horrors.

The game is available on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5. Previously, the joint project by Konami and NeoBards Entertainment received positive reviews from critics and players. Silent Hill f is also DRM-free — the game does not include Denuvo. Our walkthrough guide is available here.
