Resident Evil Requiem Creators Discuss Leaks and Controversial Rumors

Diana Golenko

In recent weeks, Resident Evil Requiem has been surrounded by an increasing number of rumors, including speculation about the return of Leon Kennedy as a playable character. Game Director Koshi Nakanishi and Producer Masato Kumazawa addressed these alleged leaks in an interview with VGC (via Insider Gaming).

During the conversation, Nakanishi noted that leaks can sometimes be a positive sign, as they indicate strong fan interest in the series. However, he emphasized that not all leaks are accurate: some may be completely false, others partially true, and some may not reflect reality at all.

Kumazawa added that he doesn’t mind information appearing online, regardless of its accuracy. The issue arises when players begin to treat these leaks as fact, even if the information hasn’t been officially confirmed. If the game doesn’t include the mentioned details, players may feel misled, even though the developers never made any promises.

Earlier reports suggested that Resident Evil Requiem would allegedly feature three playable characters. Fans are now hoping for Leon Kennedy’s return, fueled by rumors from insiders and various leaks.

Resident Evil Requiem is set to release on February 27, 2026, for PC, Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and Nintendo Switch 2. Gameplay for the latter console can be viewed here — and it looks promising so far.
