Resident Evil fans may have received an unexpected hint about Leon Kennedy’s return in the upcoming Resident Evil Requiem. The leak occurred last month, but it only drew attention recently.
During IGN’s Gamescom Awards 2025 livestream, host Jane Douglas made an offhand comment about the RE Engine graphics that fans believe could confirm Leon’s involvement. She said:
Next time you’re looking at some Resident Evil Requiem footage, the hair — RE Engine goes so hard on hair, Leon’s, Grace’s — looking spectacular.
Although the mention was brief, the fact that Leon was named alongside Grace is being taken by fans as an accidental confirmation of his presence in Resident Evil 9. The clip quickly spread across social media, gathering hundreds of thousands of views in less than a day.
This aligns with previous statements from insiders like Dusk Golem, who claimed that Leon will play a significant role in the game, possibly marking his final major appearance in the series. While Capcom has yet to officially confirm his involvement, fans are eagerly anticipating Leon’s reunion with the new lead character.
Resident Evil Requiem is officially set to launch on February 27, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. Capcom has already revealed several key details, including first- and third-person gameplay options, a return to Raccoon City, and the new protagonist Grace Ashcroft. Additional information was recently shared during Capcom’s presentation at Tokyo Game Show 2025.
