Sony Prepares Day-One Patch for Ghost of Yotei, Bringing a Host of Fixes and Improvements

Ahead of the launch of the action-adventure game Ghost of Yotei, Sony has revealed details about the day-one patch (version 1.006), which will bring various fixes and enhancements—mainly focused on performance, ray tracing, camera, and game balance.
Key patch highlights:
- Several improvements to environment rendering performance;
- Fixed lighting and performance issues in ray tracing mode;
- Changes made to boost performance and stability in Photo Mode;
- Enhanced performance in missions with large numbers of characters;
- Fixed rare crashes during gameplay or after long idle sessions;
- Fixed rare crashes when loading certain saves;
- Corrected hit sound effects to better match surface types;
- Fixed bugs in some mini-games;
- Fixed delay at the start of companion grapples;
- Fixed transparent pumpkins in the kunai training mission;
- Improved camera transitions during interrogations to reduce abrupt angle changes;
- General camera improvements while exploring the world and using tools in combat;
- Improved camera behavior in combat, especially in optional modes;
- Fixed bugs and exploits during duels;
- Various weapon and charm balance tweaks, especially in late game;
- Fixed bugs and balance adjustments on “Lethal” difficulty;
- Fixed weapon-related bugs;
- Stealth kill balancing and fixes;
- Fixed dialogue interruptions in missions caused by player or NPC actions;
- Fixed several mission bugs that could block progress;
- Improved game zones for smoother navigation and progression;
- Limited puzzle hints on certain difficulty levels;
- Horse no longer interrupts specific missions or cutscenes;
- Fixed a bug where Standoff mode would target distant enemies;
- Various tweaks and balance changes to wolf abilities, such as in enemy leader fights;
- System enemies no longer spawn when following foxes;
- Added ability to open Photo Mode (R1) at certain rest stages;
- Various economy and loot balance changes for common metals;
- Improved enemy reactions to player actions in combat;
- Reduced the number of tutorial prompts when resting;
- Improved Saito people’s behavior when searching for Atsu in the open world;
- Enhanced intro and outro transitions in certain cutscenes for more emotional impact;

- Fixed geometry disappearing in cutscenes;
- Fixed animation artifacts in cutscenes;
- Fixed cases of incorrect weapon display in cutscenes;
- Fixed cases of characters spawning incorrectly in cutscenes;
- Improved facial expressions and emotions in some cutscenes;
- Updated NPC animations and voice lines for more natural behavior;
- Updated katana attack animations for a more authentic feel;
- Improved character foot placement on the ground during animations;
- Fixed animal animation bugs;
- Fixed various NPC animations not playing correctly in missions;
- Improved weapon draw and sheathe animations;
- Enhanced appearance of some flower types;
- Improved erosion and detail on mountain ridges;
- Enhanced cave textures for better detail and to eliminate seams and artifacts;

- Improved deep snow blending for better character concealment and snow visuals;
- Optimized and improved many in-game objects for better performance;
- Improved textures and objects in caves and dens for overall quality;
- Fixed floating objects across the world;
- Fixed flickering and bright light in Photo Mode when rapidly changing the time of day;
- General improvements to Photo Mode menus and navigation;
- Fixed bugs in mini-games with alternate control schemes;
- Fixed various spyglass issues;
- Fixed conflicting UI elements in menus and on the map;
- Fixed text overflow in large font mode in several languages;
- Fixed text overlapping in key item lists and multi-reward cards;
- Adjusted position of certain UI elements, such as the charm level icon;
- Fixed and improved icons for cosmetics and skills;
- Updated skill tutorial videos and added color highlights for clearer instruction;
- Fixed incorrect item display on the traveler’s map;
- Updated shaders, animations, and UI marker sizes for better readability;
- Modified spyglass glow for improved visibility in bright scenes;
- Reduced pop-ups at the start of the game for a smoother experience for players with bonus content;
- Improved various merchant UI elements;
- Fixed menu loading errors;
- Updated trophy and activity images;
- Enhanced the look of some map elements;
- Fixed names of certain inventory items;
- Added new options to Photo Mode.
The patch will be available at launch, which is set for October 2 on PS5. Ghost of Yotei is already available for pre-load.
As for early impressions, the game has received rave reviews from the press. There are also online comparisons with Assassin’s Creed Shadows and Ghost of Tsushima.
