Borderlands 4 Gets Major Patch Focused on Balance Improvements
Hennadiy Chemеris
Gearbox has released a substantial update for Borderlands 4, aiming to boost build diversity and enhance the effectiveness of underappreciated Vault Hunter skills.
The developers paid special attention to Amon, buffing many of his abilities to bring him in line with the overall power level of other characters. Vex’s summons and Rafa’s melee attacks have also received buffs, while Harlow’s stasis elements were improved.
The studio noted that future updates will further address class and stat balance, recovery kits, shields, firmware, and fix exploits that hinder build progression.
Patch highlights:
- New Big Encore boss variant with increased difficulty and improved loot;
- Wildcard mission updated — now guarantees repeatable legendary drops;
- Maurice’s vending machine has been relocated and its inventory refreshed;
- Automatic removal of outdated shaders on version update, which should improve PC performance;
- Harlow: Stasis Slam damage increased by 30%, Stasis Immune by 14.7%;
- Rafa: Buffed APOPHIS Lance, Arc-Knives, capstones, and passives in the People Person, This Year's Gimmick, and El Paragus trees;
- Vex: Improved Incarnate, Phase Phamiliar, capstones, and passives in Vexcalation, Here Comes Trouble, and The Fourth Seal trees;
- Amon: Major buffs to Vengeance, Cybernetics, and Calamity trees, including increased damage for Scourge, Forgewhip, Molten Slam, Stormcutter, and more, plus reduced cooldowns for several skills.
A full list of changes, improvements, and fixes can be found on the official website.
Players are advised to restart the game for the update to take effect and to avoid matchmaking errors. In case of issues, 2K Support is available for assistance.
Borderlands 4 launched on September for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. A Nintendo Switch 2 port is planned for the future. In our review, we praised the game’s frantic shootouts, engaging progression, and new mobility mechanics, while noting a lackluster story, cluttered UI, and an underwhelming open world as drawbacks.
