Rumor: Virtuos Reportedly Co-Developing Halo: Combat Evolved Remake with Halo Studios

The internet is once again buzzing with talk about a potential remake of Halo: Combat Evolved, and this time the rumors point to the involvement of Virtuos, best known for developing The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered.
Insider Rebs Gaming, who has frequently provided accurate information about the Halo franchise, revealed in a recent video that Virtuos’ subdivision Abstraction is working on the project. However, according to him, the main driving force behind development is Halo Studios itself, meaning this isn’t an outsourced project but a full-fledged internal production.
According to the source, the remake will use Unreal Engine 5 for rendering alongside a modified version of the Blam engine (from Halo: Reach) for gameplay. This hybrid approach is expected to combine faithful recreation of the original mechanics with new gameplay additions and modern visuals.
While Rebs Gaming is considered a reliable source, this information should still be taken with caution. That said, Virtuos’ involvement seems plausible, as the studio has already showcased its expertise in hybrid engine development this year with The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered and Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater.
Halo Studios may reveal its plans as soon as October 24, during the Halo World Championship. There’s also a chance the event could feature the announcement of a brand-new Halo title.
