Graphics Comparison of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 on PS4 and PS5 Released

YouTuber ElAnalistaDeBits has released a new comparison video showcasing the graphical differences between the PS4 and PS5 versions of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. The footage is based on the game’s beta, which recently became available to anyone who pre-ordered, received an invite through Twitch Drops, or has an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass subscription.
In the video, the author compares resolution, interactive elements, shadows, particles, textures, reflections, lighting, environmental detail, and frame rate.
Here are the main takeaways:
- The PS4 version features even more visual downgrades compared to Black Ops 6. There’s less environmental interaction, and lighting, shadows, textures, and overall detail are noticeably worse;
- On PS5, enabling 120Hz mode results in lower rendering resolution, as well as reduced shadow and reflection quality;
- In terms of performance, the PS5 remains stable almost all the time, both at 60Hz and 120Hz. The PS4, however, suffers from frequent frame rate drops, fluctuating between 60 and 40 FPS;
- It’s remarkable that, 12 years later, the PS4 is still getting games like Call of Duty, even if it’s at the bare minimum quality. The experience isn’t on par with PS5, but it could be worse.
The open beta for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, which anyone can join, will run from October 5 to 8. Recently, the game was also tested on a variety of graphics cards, including the GTX 1650 and RTX 4060.
The full release is set for November 14 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. Incidentally, Black Ops 7’s main rival, Battlefield 6, is launching on October 10, with new details about its first season revealed just recently.
