The launch of Borderlands 4 turned out to be mixed. On the one hand, the game is called one of the best in the series; on the other, impressions are marred by optimization and performance issues.
According to Alinea Analytics, in its first month Borderlands 4 sold 3.1 million copies across all platforms, which allowed it to enter the top 5 sales chart. However, this result is significantly behind previous entries: for example, Borderlands 3 sold over 5 million copies in just the first five days.
The charts were topped by Skate 4, FC26, and Hollow Knight: Silksong, while Borderlands 4 fell short of the top three. Still, sales on Steam and consoles remain strong, offering hope for solid long-term performance. It is noted that many players have added the game to their wishlists and are waiting for discounts, as well as improvements in performance, which currently has serious issues.
Notably, Borderlands 4 recently received a major patch optimizing game balance. Our review is available here.
