Ghost of Yotei Debuts at No. 2 on the European Sales Chart
According to data from The Game Business, Ghost of Yotei debuted at No. 2 in the latest European GSD charts, trailing only EA Sports FC 26, which held the top spot for the third consecutive week.
The samurai action game marked PlayStation’s biggest launch since Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Interestingly, its opening sales numbers are nearly identical to those of Ghost of Tsushima — though, as journalist Christopher Dring noted, the 2020 release benefited from the COVID-19 lockdowns, which boosted overall game sales at the time.
Other new entries in the chart include Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2, Digimon Story: Time Stranger, and Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles.
Several older titles also re-entered the top 10 thanks to Steam’s fall sale, which offered massive discounts of up to 90%. Doom Eternal, Far Cry Primal, and South Park: The Fractured But Whole all saw dramatic sales spikes.
Top-selling games in Europe (week ending October 5):
- EA Sports FC 26 (-62%);
- Ghost of Yotei (new release);
- Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 (new release);
- Digimon Story: Time Stranger (new release);
- Doom Eternal (+8610%);
- Far Cry Primal (+3060%);
- Hogwarts Legacy (+177%);
- Red Dead Redemption 2 (+342%);
- South Park: The Fractured But Whole (+13256%);
- Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles (new release).
Ghost of Yotei is available exclusively on PlayStation 5. The developers have previously stated they do not plan to split their focus across multiple projects.
