Steve Downes, the voice actor behind Master Chief, has teased "big news" for the Halo franchise, set to be announced during the Halo World Championship in Seattle, scheduled for October 24–25.

In a post on X, Steve Downes revealed that he’ll be attending the event in person and added a cryptic message: "BIG NEWS A’COMIN!! ."

The official Halo World Championship blog had previously confirmed that a special presentation will take place on October 24, though details remain under wraps for now. The event will be livestreamed for fans. Developers have previously stated their intention to reveal a new Halo installment this year, leading fans to speculate that this could be the long-awaited announcement. However, it’s still unclear what exactly Downes was referring to.

Meanwhile, reports emerged this month that several key developers are leaving Halo Studios due to conflicts with management. Among them is franchise veteran and art director Glenn Israel, who spent around 17 years at the studio.

There are also rumors that a remake of Halo: Combat Evolved—the original 2001 classic—is currently in development. The project is reportedly being handled by Virtuos, the studio known for their work on The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered.
