Archetype Entertainment, a studio made up of industry veterans who previously worked at BioWare, 343 Industries, Electronic Arts, and Naughty Dog, has unveiled new screenshots for their upcoming game, Exodus. Alongside the reveal, the team has launched official store pages for the project on Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation Store, and Xbox Store.
Key details:
- The game draws inspiration from Mass Effect, Horizon (elemental powers and weapon mechanics), and Metroid Prime (a sense of loneliness and exploration);
- The central weapon is the Recycler — a core tool that lets players gather any materials and craft various resources and weapons, eliminating the need to carry tons of ammo. Developers compare it to the Flux Capacitor from “Back to the Future”;
- Exodus supports a variety of playstyles: go in guns blazing, take a stealthy approach, or avoid combat altogether through dialogue with NPCs;
- Some companions specialize in stealth, and different suits offer unique stealth abilities;
- The world features ancient technologies, moral dilemmas, and opportunities to use relics for the benefit or detriment of humanity. Some mysterious relics include the Relativistic Perditor, Proto-Matter, and Hell of Liquid Walls;
- The main character is Jun Aslan, a space scavenger who unexpectedly gains the power of the Traveler;
- Combat is designed to be visually spectacular, strategic, and player-driven, with enemies and factions growing more complex as you progress from your home planet Lydon to the far reaches of the galaxy;
- Side quests are critical to the narrative, helping to flesh out the universe, develop character skills, and build relationships with your crew.
Exodus is described as a sci-fi action RPG where players step into the role of Jun Aslan, leading humanity’s fight against the Celestials. You’ll explore distant planets and galaxies, hunt for ancient relics, combine them with human technology to craft unique weapons and abilities, battle a variety of enemies, and interact with allies. Player choice is a core element, shaping the world and the future of humanity, as well as your relationships with various characters and creatures across a living galaxy.
The game is in development for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. Early information points to a 2026 release, though the exact date has yet to be announced. Notably, Exodus was featured in our list of the most promising upcoming AA games.
