It looks like Halo is returning in a completely new format. According to well-known insider RebsGaming, Halo Studios is working on a standalone multiplayer title being developed as a long-term live-service project in the style of Fortnite.

Sources claim this isn’t just another mode for Halo Infinite, but a separate game built around ongoing updates, seasonal events, and rotating content. It’s unclear whether the game will include a battle royale mode or something else entirely — what’s known is that it’s designed for continuous support and long-term growth, much like modern service-based titles.

Alongside this new online Halo project, the studio is reportedly also working on a remake of Halo: Combat Evolved — said to be built on a hybrid of Unreal Engine 5 and a modified Reach engine, with a planned release in 2026.

No official announcements have been made yet, but that could change soon — Halo Studios is expected to take the stage at the Halo World Championship 2025 on October 24, where the team will discuss the future of the franchise. If the leaks are true, 2026 could mark the beginning of a new era for Halo, with both a remake of the iconic shooter and a fresh multiplayer experience that could redefine the series.

Meanwhile, Master Chief’s voice actor has teased major upcoming news about the franchise. However, not everything seems to be smooth at Halo Studios, with recent reports suggesting internal tension between developers and management.
